The Ocean’s franchise has long been one of Hollywood’s most star-packed properties, bringing together major names across generations under one sleek heist banner. From George Clooney and Brad Pitt to Julia Roberts and Matt Damon, the series became as much about the chemistry of its cast as the crime at its center.

Now that legacy is expanding again, and Monica Barbaro is the latest star set to join the crew.

Monica Barbaro is joining Bradley Cooper, Margot Robbie, and Wagner Moura in Ocean’s Eleven prequel, which Warner Bros. is targeting for a June 25, 2027 release as reported by Deadline. The film is being directed and produced by Cooper, with Robbie producing through LuckyChap Entertainment. The screenplay is also being handled by Cooper, drawing from the original characters created by George Clayton Johnson and Jack Golden Russell.

Barbaro's inclusion was confirmed in a Deadline exclusive, and recently Margot Robbie had revealed that the story will unfold around the Monaco Grand Prix, one of the most glamorous settings in motorsport. Instead of revisiting the Las Vegas casino heists tied to Danny Ocean, the prequel shifts focus to his parents, portrayed as the masterminds who influenced his skills long before his rise.

Robbie has teased that audiences will see them in their prime while executing a major heist during the 1962 race. This premise gives the film a distinct identity while staying connected to the polished, stylish tone that defined Ocean’s Eleven. With Cooper and Robbie leading and Barbaro joining the lineup, the project is quickly becoming one of the studio’s most anticipated releases.

As the prequel builds momentum, the franchise is also looking ahead by revisiting familiar territory with a new sequel.

The original Ocean's Eleven crew prepares for another run

George Clooney has confirmed that a new Ocean’s sequel is in development, continuing the story after Ocean’s Thirteen. Clooney is set to return as Danny Ocean, with the character and his crew now older but still capable of pulling off a carefully planned heist. According to Clooney, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, and Don Cheadle have all agreed to return.

Location scouting is already underway, and production could begin as early as October 2026. Clooney has explained that the appeal lies in showing a team that may have slowed down physically but remains sharp enough to outthink any obstacle. The new installment is said to draw inspiration from Going in Style, the 1970 film about older men planning a late-in-life robbery.

That influence aligns with the franchise’s evolution into a story about legacy as much as spectacle. It is still unclear whether Andy García, Elliott Gould, or Casey Affleck will return, but the confirmed cast already brings strong nostalgic appeal. With both a prequel and a sequel in development, Warner Bros. is clearly aiming to expand the Ocean’s universe across multiple timelines.
