Episode 5 of MobLand left the Harrigans’ Cotswolds fortress resembling an extremely expensive rifle range. Maeve had sent Eddie to Ireland to m***** the gangster Medusa, only for Harry to rescue him and Gina after the mission collapsed spectacularly. Back home, Frankie Cooper’s armed men stormed the estate while Harry was away.

Conrad, Maeve, Kevin, Bella, Seraphina, and Paul fled by helicopter, abandoning their kingdom to the invaders. Add Conrad’s fading memory, Maeve’s suspicious antifreeze, and Jan discovering Donnie’s deception, and Episode 6 inherits enough loose canons to supply a superhero finale. Unfortunately, somebody has already pulled the pin.

The Harrigans swap their burning empire for a Mallorca getaway

A Different Corner begins with the family airborne, alive, and desperately needing a collective personality transplant. Seraphina tells Conrad she has been meeting Kat McAllister, presenting her double-agent activities as intelligence gathering. She warns that Kat knows the family’s properties, making their usual hiding places potential death traps.

Conrad accepts her story, although the moment Seraphina truly chose her family remains unclear. Her proposed sanctuary is Mallorca, at the sprawling home of her mother, Priyanka, and stepfather, Charlton Gibber. Sunshine, swimming pools, and hospitality await. Naturally, the Harrigans bring enough emotional baggage to sink a cruise liner.

Harry, Eddie, and Gina have already arrived. Maeve realizes her Irish errand has returned to haunt her. Eddie invents a heroic account of k****** Medusa, complete with details that fail basic scrutiny. Maeve sees straight through the performance. Her preferred heir can bluff like a gangster, although his nerves could probably power the island.

Harry has considerably less patience. He warns Maeve that endangering Gina again will cost her life. He also tries rebuilding his relationship with his daughter, who witnessed his terrifying efficiency with a gun. Harry explains that serving the Harrigans gave Gina choices he never enjoyed.

For once, he offers uncomfortable truths instead of a convenient cover story. Gina eventually embraces him, suggesting their relationship can heal. Back in England, Frankie surveys the ruined estate, feeds Conrad’s dogs a biscuit, and then k**** them. His cruelty makes an already personal feud unbearable.

'MobLand' Season 2 Episode 2 Recap: Who Is Behind the Attacks on the Harrigan Family?

Mallorca might resemble paradise, but the family has brought its most dangerous weakness along: pride.

Conrad rejects a lifeline as Frankie plans his next trap

Seraphina arrives with a proposal that could repair the family’s finances and influence. She wants Conrad to partner with Charlton and use his resources to rebuild their operations. Kevin recognizes her maneuvering as another bid for the throne, especially while Bella remains furious with him over their son Eddie.

Priyanka, Conrad’s former lover, also works her influence on the patriarch. Maeve watches suspiciously. The family’s emergency strategy session now resembles a dinner party designed by a supervillain.

Conrad rejects the alliance. Proud of building his criminal empire from nothing, he insists on fighting his war independently. He celebrates the family’s outlaw identity even as his behavior reveals ugly prejudices. Seraphina’s possible escape route vanishes beneath a mountain of wounded ego.

Meanwhile, Frankie is developing a bizarre understanding with Tattersall, also called Colin. Furious about his disastrous raid and the conflicting accounts of JoJo’s death, he threatens Tattersall with a weapon. The crooked officer admits that dangerous criminals and fear have become personal fixations. Somehow, the confession earns him a reprieve.

Their next scheme involves Jan. Frankie orders Donnie to abduct her, intending to torture her and force Harry into the open. Investigator Kavanagh, meanwhile, realizes that the Harrigans are hunting her team and that Finch was m*******. Her superiors remove her from the operation.

Harry sends Zosia to protect Jan. She refuses, threatening to shoot herself if his people enter. Donnie notices Zosia’s team, understands his cover is blown, and reports his failure. Frankie responds with an ultimatum: deliver Jan or die.

That threat leaves the most underestimated person in this entire criminal circus holding the next move.

Why does Jan take Donnie's life and what happens next?

Donnie asks Jan to meet him, hoping to rescue an assignment unraveling faster than a bargain-bin parachute. She suggests a nearby pub. He goes there. She does not. Jan instead waits inside Donnie’s house. He returns after being stood up and leaves Kat a message admitting that Jan knows about his deception.

Moments later, she emerges and shoots him in the neck. Donnie dies, and a woman determined to escape Harry’s violent world has crossed a terrifying threshold herself. Why? The episode offers no neat confession. Betrayal is an obvious factor.

Jan believed she had finally made an independent romantic choice after years entangled with Harry and the Harrigans. Discovering Donnie was working for Kat transforms that freedom into an elaborate humiliation. Her decision can also be understood as an attempt to reclaim control.

Harry warned her about Donnie, but Jan rejected his protection. Taking the life of the man who manipulated her allows Jan to confront the threat herself. Yet her stunned expression suggests that taking someone's life has brought horrifying consequences.

The irony is vicious. Earlier, she threatened self-harm rather than accept Harry’s security arrangements. Now she has committed a crime that may require the professional cleanup only his criminal connections can provide. Donnie’s death could also draw fresh attention from Kat and Frankie, although their reactions remain unseen.

Harry and Gina have finally made peace. Conrad has rejected a chance to rebuild. Seraphina’s loyalty remains under examination. Jan has made herself impossible to ignore. The Harrigans escaped an army, only to discover their next crisis comes courtesy of one woman and a weapon.
