Miles Teller Talks ‘Top Gun 3’ and Teases Potential Franchise Future With Tom Cruise
Proving that the Hollywood icon's passion for the skies is as high-octane as ever, Miles Teller opens up on Top Gun 3 and Tom Cruise. The danger zone is officially calling once more, and the franchise's breakout pilot is finally breaking his silence on what lies ahead. Following Paramount's blockbuster confirmation that a third Top Gun installment is officially cleared for takeoff, star Miles Teller has touched down on late-night television to address the soaring anticipation.
While playfully dodging direct questions about his return to the cockpit, Teller pulled back the curtain on Tom Cruise's relentless, hands-on dedication to the property.
What Miles Teller just said about returning for Top Gun 3
Stopping by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to pump up his latest cinematic venture, Paper Tiger, franchise alum Miles Teller found himself cornered when host Jimmy Kimmel steered the conversation toward Tom Cruise's recent studio confirmation that a third Top Gun installment is officially airborne.
When pressed about stepping back into the cockpit as Bradley 'Rooster' Bradshaw, Teller leaned into playful deflection, teasing back with, “Where did you hear that?” Instead of confirming production timelines, the actor kept his cards close to his chest, noting simply that enthusiasm across the board is running sky-high.
“Tom, I think he said the next thing he’s doing, he’s going to race some cars. That’s Days of Thunder. And then, I hope he wants to fly some planes too,” Teller said.
Reflecting on his working relationship with the Hollywood icon, Teller praised Cruise's hands-on mentorship during his Jimmy Kimmel Live! interview, revealing that the star's boundless passion can sometimes be overwhelming. He even praised the veteran actor for how involved he is in every project he works on and his never-ending enthusiasm.
Miles Teller tease comes months after Tom Cruise’s official confirmation of the threequel earlier this year.
Tom Cruise’s promising Top Gun 3 tease
Back in April at CinemaCon, Tom Cruise electrified the entertainment world by declaring that “the future looks pretty great,” echoing official announcements from Paramount executives Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein confirming that a third Top Gun outing is officially in development. Studio leadership noted that a screenplay is actively being hammered out, bringing back the legendary creative battery of Cruise and producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who spearheaded both the original 1986 classic and the historic 2022 blockbuster sequel.
Following his iconic 1986 breakout, Tom Cruise slipped back into the flight suit of Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell for the 2022 legacy sequel Top Gun: Maverick. The sequel went on to become an astronomical box-office juggernaut that cleared $1.4 billion globally, standing as the actor's most lucrative cinematic triumph alongside a coveted Best Picture Academy Award nomination.
