Spider-Man may have been portrayed by several actors across live-action films, but new data suggests that Miles Morales has become the most-watched Spider-Man in America. According to Nielsen, the animated hero from Sony’s Spider-Verse franchise now leads the web-slinging brand in total TV and streaming viewership, outperforming every live-action version of the character. The findings come as interest in Spider-Man remains at an all-time high following the record-breaking success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

An analysis of viewing habits across television and streaming platforms found that audiences continue to revisit Spider-Man content across multiple generations and formats.

According to Nielsen's data on streaming content ratings, the animated Spider-Man voiced by Shameik Moore in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has accumulated the largest audience when total viewing minutes are combined across films. Remarkably, Miles Morales achieved that distinction with only two movies in the franchise.

Despite having a significantly smaller film catalog than his live-action counterparts, the character has emerged as the franchise's biggest streaming draw.

Nielsen's report notes that animation may have contributed to the films' success, as animated movies often enjoy stronger rewatch potential among younger viewers. Nielsen also found that, on a per-film basis, Miles averages more than six billion viewing minutes per movie, roughly double the average of any live-action Spider-Man film. That achievement is particularly notable given the character’s relatively recent history. Miles Morales first appeared in Marvel Comics in 2011, yet he now leads a franchise that has existed since 1962.

The strong viewership figures mirror the critical acclaim the Spider-Verse films have received, with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse frequently appearing near the top of rankings of the franchise's best movies, including a recent list of every Spider-Man movie ranked before Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The Spider-Verse movies continue to prove that animation can compete with and even surpass live-action superhero blockbusters.

Spider-Man’s popularity continues across generations

Nielsen's ranking of the most-watched Spider-Man films also highlighted the franchise's broad appeal. Every major Spider-Man era was represented among the top-performing titles, with all four cinematic Spider-Men placing at least two films in the top ten. Viewership for the Spider-Verse films remains especially strong.

Nielsen also reported that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse alone generated nearly two billion viewing minutes during the first half of 2026 as the film became more widely available on streaming services. The report underscores how Spider-Man has successfully evolved across generations. From animated children's programming and family-friendly adventures to blockbuster films and darker stories aimed at adults, the character continues to attract audiences of all ages.

As audiences continue revisiting Miles Morales' adventures while flocking to new Spider-Man releases, Nielsen's latest numbers suggest that the future of the franchise may be just as animated as it is live-action. The continued success of the Spider-Verse films demonstrates the lasting appeal of Miles Morales and the unique storytelling style that helped redefine the character for modern audiences. With another Spider-Verse installment still on the horizon, those viewing figures could continue to grow in the years ahead.
