Mikey Madison, fresh off her Oscar win for portraying a s-- worker in Anora, The Bear star Jeremy Allen White, and Jeremy Strong, recently nominated for an Academy Award for his performance in The Apprentice, are all rumored to be top choices for various roles in Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Network sequel, potentially titled The Social Network Part II. According to The Hollywood Reporter sources, no offers have been made yet, but if things work out with the trio, Madison would play Frances Haugen, the infamous Facebook whistleblower; White would play a former Wall Street Journal reporter; and Strong could either portray a Wall Street Journal editor or step into the shoes of Jesse Eisenberg.
Jesse Eisenberg notably brought Mark Zuckerberg to life in the original and earned an Oscar nomination for portraying the Meta CEO. Notably, according to one The Hollywood Reporter source, he has passed on reprising the part. Though there are no casting confirmations about The Social Network Part II as of now, the outlet's insiders divulged that the project is a top priority for Sony and things are moving fast. Meaning, it will not be long before an ensemble for the effort is officially announced. Meanwhile, limited idea concerning the upcoming iteration's plot suggests it explores how Facebook scripted its own downfall amid its meteoric rise.

While the acclaimed 2010 drama focused on making Facebook, the new story, per The Hollywood Reporter, will focus on how the company’s own reporting pointed out the negative effect it was having on teens and kids, how it knew it was aiding the proliferation of violence-causing misinformation, and the role it may have played in the lead-up to the January 6, 2021, Capitol Hill riot, linking Donald Trump, who has an unconventional accolade to his name.
