While the first season of The Madison followed the Clyburn family’s journey through grief and quiet healing onscreen, the cast faced a very different struggle behind the scenes. Michelle Pfeiffer, who plays Stacy Clyburn in the series, recently revealed that the set had no food, bathrooms, or even air conditioning during filming. While such harsh conditions may not have been unusual in the past, modern productions now provide trailers and strict rules to ensure the comfort and safety of cast and crew members.

However, due to a creative decision, the set of The Madison was left without these necessities.

The Madison had charmed its viewers with its peaceful valley setting and picturesque landscapes that feel soothing to the soul, and that is something Michelle Pfeiffer herself agreed with while speaking on the In Conversation podcast. However, that beauty also came with painful sacrifices for the cast and crew, as they could not have trailers around. The actress further revealed that because the production moved so quickly, there was not enough time to set up the necessary accommodations on set.

“We didn’t really have trailers there, because they were shooting 360, so they couldn’t have a bunch of trailers around,” she said.

She further added, “There was no bathroom nearby. There was no food. And in the winter, it was cold. It was like, ‘Could we have a heater?’ And in the summer, it was like, ‘Could I get an umbrella because the sun’s really intense?’”

And it seems the challenges were not limited to the cast of The Madison. Another series from Taylor Sheridan’s universe, Dutton Ranch, reportedly faced similar conditions. Cole Hauser, in a conversation with Variety, opened up about how difficult it was filming the series in the intense heat during July and August.

While it remains uncertain whether the working conditions on The Madison have improved, the show has already begun filming its next season.

Is The Madison confirmed for another season?

The Madison premiered to impressive numbers, drawing 8 million global views within its first 10 days on Paramount+. Oddly enough, the show’s second season has not been officially confirmed, though production for Season 2 has reportedly already begun. While the release date for the next season remains unknown, it is expected to follow the format of the first season with six episodes.

But even without an official confirmation, another season appears likely, especially since Paramount+ has reportedly renewed the series for Season 3 as well. Given the show’s success and the strong response from audiences, the platform has faith in the series, and that is evident in the show's renewal. And with the show seemingly planned for a long run, perhaps the team will finally be able to build better accommodations for the cast and crew.
