Michael has now become the gold standard of biopics across genres and not just musical biographies. With the billion-dollar threshold breached, the biopic now stands tall among other biopics like Bohemian Rhapsody and Oppenheimer, which previously held records for the highest-grossing biographical movies of all time. However, it took almost three months for the movie to reach the intended milestone, which prolonged its streaming debut.
Now, after a long wait, the movie is finally ready for streaming, with the release date already revealed.

On August 10, Michael, a musical biopic that chronicles Michael Jackson's career, will go live on Starz. Michael, which was released on April 24, became one of the biggest releases of 2026, grossing over $1 billion globally. After a very long 108-day theatrical run has finally decided it is time to turn to streaming.
Rotten Tomatoes gave the film an A- CinemaScore and a 97% audience rating. After Disney/Pixar's Toy Story 5 and Universal/Illumination's Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Michael is the third film this year to earn over $1 billion. Furthermore, Michael is the highest-grossing biopic, topping Oppenheimer and beating King's multi-Oscar-winning musical biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, with $911 million at the global box office.

Michael, which is written by John Logan and directed by Antoine Fuqua, tells the story of Michael Jackson's ascent to stardom, from his participation in the Jackson 5 band with his siblings in the 1960s to his Bad tour in the late 1980s. Jaafar Jackson, Jackson's nephew, gives a solid debut performance, which is also the reason why the film did so well in the theaters.
However, the entire cast deserves a part of the credit for the film’s magnanimous success.
The magnificent cast of Michael
Besides Jaafar Jackson featuring as Michael Jackson, the billion-dollar hit blockbuster also has Miles Teller playing industry lawyer John Branca, Laura Harrier as music producer Suzanne de Passe, Colman Domingo portraying family patriarch Joe Jackson, and Nia Long as matriarch Katherine Jackson.
