Meghan Markle’s concerns from a few years back regarding the UK schools have resurfaced amidst talk of the royal couple’s return to the UK. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have made the decision to move back to the UK later this month. Although specifics are yet unknown, it has also been stated that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have been accepted into one of the best schools in the UK and will start their studies in September.
There have been rumors that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will not go to Lambrook School, where their cousins Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte attend. Alternatively, they could consider Northamptonshire schools adjacent to King Charles' Highgrove and the Spencer estate, or Windlesham House School, a co-ed day school in their dukedom of Sussex.
But Meghan Markle's abrupt choice contrasts sharply with her earlier statements about sending her kids to school in the UK.
Meghan Markle’s prior inhibitions resurface
Reports of Prince Harry's possible return to Britain have brought back Meghan Markle's previous worries about sending her kids to a UK school. The former actress said she could not imagine sending her kids to school in the UK in an interview with The Cut in 2022. The Duchess of Sussex cited excessive media attention and the presence of paparazzi outside schools as significant issues.
“Sorry, I have a problem with that. That doesn’t make me obsessed with privacy. That makes me a strong and good parent protecting my child from a royal press photo call of 40 people,” she said in an interview with The Cut.

After six years away from both the UK and the royal family, the Sussexes have made the decision to once again turn to British education, which naturally led to The Cut interview resurfacing. Although it has been rumored that the former royals will be staying on the outskirts of London, their UK residence has not been disclosed for privacy reasons.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will also keep their summer residence in Portugal as well as their Montecito property. Only a few days ago, both the Waleses and King Charles were notified of their return. The likelihood of a reunion is unknown because this return takes place in the midst of the two rival brothers' ongoing alienation.
The royal couple may be at odds over this whole relocation and education of their children issue, as some reports suggest.
Differences in opinions between the Sussexes
Regarding their kids' schooling, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might not be totally in agreement, per a report by Closer dated August 12. Since their parents resigned as working royals in 2020, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have grown up in Montecito, California. Due to their two-year age difference, the Suits actress has previously discussed the kids attending different schools. According to the report, Markle wants Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to finish their schooling in the United States.

An insider clarified the Duchess of Sussex's viewpoint by saying that Meghan Markle feels at ease in Los Angeles due to cultural differences. The stuffiness of England never appealed to her. It is difficult to see her consenting to abandon the life she has established in California. The matter for now remains open to interpretation, as no official statement has arrived from the Sussexes on the matter.
