Then there is the most distinctly Meghan Markle requirement: a film studio, as per Daily Mail. The reported idea fits neatly into the unusual hybrid of Hollywood production house and English country retreat that has defined the Sussexes’ post-royal era. Markle is also expected to continue developing her lifestyle interests and As Ever, while the family reportedly intends to retain its Montecito property and Portugal retreat. The result is less a traditional relocation than a transatlantic production base, with privacy, family life and entertainment folded into one sprawling setup.

But the property search may only be the backdrop for the more intriguing piece of this British return.

Meghan Markle’s relationship with the camera has taken an unexpected turn. After leaving Suits in 2017 and marrying Prince Harry in 2018, she largely traded scripted television for documentaries, producing and lifestyle programming. Yet she quietly stepped back onto a film set in 2025 for a cameo as herself in Close Personal Friends, starring Jack Quaid, Lily Collins, Brie Larson and Henry Golding.

Now, reports say she has been discussing an acting return with Prince Harry for some time, with her potential involvement in Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series The Gentlemen becoming a major piece of the conversation. Netflix has renewed the series for Season 3, while Meghan Markle remains in talks and no deal has been finalized. The connection is particularly striking because The Gentlemen is filmed in the UK, including the Cotswolds, placing Meghan’s reported professional ambitions almost directly beside the family’s new home search.

For Markle, the British comeback therefore carries echoes of an old Hollywood story with a distinctly Sussex twist: the actress who left the screen could be returning just as the duchess returns to Britain.
