Meghan Markle Receives Yet Another Blow at Year End Amid Staff Exits and Netflix Flops

The Royal Family is almost always in the headlines. While that should not be the case for Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, both have continued to be in the spotlight. It has been nearly six years since the couple officially stepped back from their roles as senior working royals in January 2020.
Despite distancing themselves from the spotlight, however, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been unable to escape public scrutiny. The Horrible Bosses star is once again trending, and it is not for the right reasons.

As per Ranker's list, Meghan Markle has now topped the list of the most ‘disliked celebrities.' This is quite a surprise for Meghan Markle, who has held lower spots on the Ranker’s public-voted list for years. There is a back and forth between the first and second positions with Meghan Markle and Sean Combs.
As of now, Meghan Markle holds the second position. These rankings are driven entirely by public opinion and votes, so her rise to the top is not a good indication. To add the cherry on top, her husband, Prince Harry, also holds a position in the top 10.

He is in the sixth position on the Ranker's list, right after Oprah Winfrey. This is another blow for the former actress who has recently been dealing with the unpopularity of her show, With Love, Meghan, on Netflix. The show, which was criticised heavily by fans, ranked in the top 5 worst TV shows of 2025 according to an article by the New York Post.
Apart from the high rankings received on the wrong list, the Sussexes have to do deal with another hiccup in their sans Europe sanctuary after their communications officer left.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in need of new Chief Communications Officer
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Chief Communications Officer, Meredith Maines, has stepped down from her role after less than a year, as per PEOPLE. Her appointment was announced in late February, and she officially began working with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in March.
Maines oversaw communications across the couple’s nonprofit work, business ventures, and public profile, and she will stay on through the new year to help with the transition. Over the past few years, several senior staff members and publicists have left, including global press secretary Ashley Hansen.

Now, the communications leadership will be consolidated under Liam Maguire, the Sussexes’ UK and Europe director of communications, who will take on a larger role. Maines had primarily handled Meghan Markle’s public relations, while Liam Maguire focused on Prince Harry’s communications.
Ranking high on disliked celebrities list left and losing crucial staff right, it seems the couple is surrounded by more than just jingle bells and warm lights moving into 2026.
