Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were involved in a dramatic car chase, put into action by paparazzi that had chased them from the award venue as per their spokesperson. The news, at first sight, generates all the emotions that any normal “near catastrophic” car chase would have. However, once you sit with it and put it in the context of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, it ultimately becomes another debate questioning whether they deserve sympathy or not. And despite having gone over the question several times, the answer is still muddled with confusion. Especially with the added element of a car chase in NYC.

It has been a while since the Sussexes made their big move from the United Kingdom to the United States. However, as many have joined in to ridicule their near-fatal car chase around New York City, it becomes clear that the two have not made friends in quantity. While the quantity may be scarce, the quality of people that surround the Sussexes is worth marveling at. First, Gayle King, and now their applaud-worthy spokesperson, Ashley Hansen gave a fitting reply to those who questioned the incident. In an interview with The New York Times, Hansen said, “I think that’s abhorrent.”

As soon as the incident came to light, people were reminded of Princess Diana’s death through a similar accident. And Hansen did not flinch when she pointed out how ridiculous it would be for the Sussexes to stage such an incident, given their family history.
Even as the majority join in to laugh at a car chase in New York being out of the question, the Sussexes reps maintain the same story.
Why do people think the Sussex car chase is a PR stunt?
The biggest element that weakened the credibility of the news was the dramatic nature of the statement. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s spokesperson said it was a “two-hour car chase“ in New York City. The irony of the statement does not escape even those who have never been to the city, as it remains notorious worldwide for its heavy traffic.
Even Whoopi Goldberg doesn’t believe Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

Then came the news of Prince Harry’s lawyer fighting for the Duke’s right to “challenge a government decision that denied him the right to pay for police protection” whenever he flies back to his country as per the Associated Press. Many deemed it too good to be a coincidence that the Sussexes would be involved in a dangerous car chase on the very day his lawyer fights for his right to pay for police protection.

It is important to note, however, that the decision that the UK government reaches will not affect the Sussexes’ lives in the U.S., where the kerfuffle unfolded.
