Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are navigating another significant chapter as they settle into life back in the United Kingdom after spending nearly 6 years building their independence in California. Their return marks more than a change of address, with the couple also stepping back into public-facing engagements while Meghan explores a renewed connection with her entertainment career. However, their Hollywood ambitions are facing fresh uncertainty, raising questions about what comes next for the Sussexes' production ventures.

The couple may be back in Britain, but their entertainment ambitions remain closely tied to an industry that is notoriously difficult to navigate. Between Markle's reported acting comeback and Archewell Productions' ongoing development slate, there are several moving pieces, and not all of them appear to be moving at the same pace.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix projects reportedly remain in limbo

According to a November 4 report by Page Six, the Sussexes' Hollywood ambitions are facing fresh uncertainty, with their Netflix-backed films Meet Me at the Lake and The Wedding Date still listed as being in development. Sources told the publication that neither project has shown apparent progress since March. Meet Me at the Lake, adapted from Carley Fortune's bestselling novel, has been in development since August 2023 and reportedly has a director attached, although the filmmaker's identity remains undisclosed.

Meanwhile, The Wedding Date, based on Jasmine Guillory's romance novel, has been in development since 2025. Page Six also reported that the couple's untitled scripted polo drama has no significant update. However, another industry source cautioned that lengthy development periods are standard in Hollywood, particularly when filmmakers are adapting books and collaborating with their original authors on screenplays. The uncertainty comes alongside Archewell Productions' recent staff reductions and the departure of longtime nonfiction head Chanel Pysnik, who helped oversee the successful Harry & Meghan documentary.

And their next joint appearance will take them beyond British shores, with a cause that has remained central to their charitable work since establishing the Archewell Foundation.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle prepare for their first joint overseas trip since returning to Britain

According to PEOPLE, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are scheduled to travel to Brussels on November 10, marking their first joint overseas engagement since returning to the United Kingdom in August. They will open the Lost Screen Memorial, an installation previously unveiled in New York in April 2025 and subsequently brought to Geneva in May 2026. Featuring 50 smartphone screens displaying photographs of children who lost their lives following social media-related harms, the memorial was created with families associated with Archewell's Parents' Network.

The couple will also deliver a keynote address on children's digital safety, while Prince Harry is scheduled to participate in a panel titled Beyond Promises: Building a Digital Future That Works for Children.

The engagement follows their October 15 joint appearance in Nottingham, their first public outing together since relocating. Their return to Britain has therefore involved balancing family priorities, charitable commitments and their professional ambitions across the Atlantic. While the Hollywood picture remains uncertain, the Brussels visit demonstrates that the Sussexes are continuing to pursue causes that have shaped their public work.

Whether their entertainment projects gather momentum in the coming months remains another story. For Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the next chapter involves balancing two very different worlds.
