The lives of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry changed for good when the latter made a revolutionary change from being the spare heir and turned into a knight in shining armor for his lady love. Taking the shocking step of separating his new family from the old for their well-being, Prince Harry has found solace and refuge in the US now, but what has followed in its wake is an entourage of hardships. And the biggest one is the debate over royal titles, a matter that also involves his father, King Charles, who pulls many strings.

In the past, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were reportedly afraid of the King projecting his influence to block their children’s passports.

In a recent report by The Guardian, it is reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had to wait for almost half a year for their children’s official documents to be issued after they filled in Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s last names as Sussex. Prince Harry was afraid that the passports were "being blocked with a string of excuses over the course of five months." An inside source near the couple has shared with the outlet that “there was clear reluctance to issue passports for the kids” from the side of the Royal Palace.

The insider has also shared the report that King Charles did not want his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, “to carry the titles, most of all the HRH, and the British passports,” which, once created, would become the only legal proof of their names. It was only after the Sussexes' legal team sent a strict letter threatening to file a data subject access request that the passports were issued.

Recently, it was also reported that Prince Harry went to seek the counsel of his uncle, Earl Spencer, about acquiring his mother, Princess Diana’s, last name during his last visit to the UK. Though the meeting did not result in anything effective, apparently, Prince Harry wants his children to continue with their HRH titles, which will grant them the liberty to choose where to live in the future, in the UK or the US.
