The stage door has been a beloved Broadway tradition for decades, offering a way for performers and audiences to connect through conversations, autographs, and photos after a show. Meg Stalter just gave that ritual her own heartfelt spin after performing Oh, Mary! The actress lost her voice for a short period and had to greet waiting fans with a handwritten note around her neck.

That heartfelt approach became even more meaningful after Stalter returned from the brief illness and addressed the online speculation surrounding her absence.

Meg Stalter quietly responded to the recent health rumor when she greeted fans at the stage door of the Lyceum Theatre after Friday night’s performance of Oh, Mary!. The actress, temporarily unable to speak, signed Playbills and posed for photos. She did it while having a handwritten note around her neck that explained the situation.

“The Princess is on vocal rest!!,” the sign read. “But she was NEVER at the Comedy Cellar!” the sign read, which can be seen on her Instagram as well, while poking fun at the online speculation surrounding her voice loss.

For the unversed, Stalter returned after a week off from performances due to bronchitis, just days after she made her Broadway debut in the production on July 6. Before Friday's show, she had previously told her followers on Instagram that she planned to come back, as long as her voice held up through the performance. Meanwhile, rumors began swirling after Stalter missed a performance of Oh, Mary!, as she allegedly skipped the show to head to New York City's Comedy Cellar.

The actress addressed this rumor on Instagram, clarifying that she was suffering from an illness and had lost her voice. She also expressed her hope to return to the Broadway production as soon as possible. Her stage door appearance later that evening confirmed she had made it back while still recovering.
