Michelle Pfeiffer shares her intial reaction to The Madison

Michelle Pfeiffer, initially skeptical about Taylor Sheridan's unconventional approach of not sending a script to her initially, turned to 1923's Helen Mirren for advice. Upon a green light from the legend herself, the actress bestowed the show with her seasoned presence, elevating the anticipation for it.

“[Sheridan] was sussing me out, to tell you the truth. It was kind of a leap of faith. He told me the overall story and who this character was. But at that point in time, it hadn't been fleshed out," Pfeiffer told Town & Country magazine.

Ultimately, Pfeiffer did come through and grieving and starting fresh in the Madison River Valley of Montana got a new meaning in this show, as Clyburn spearheads her family out of tradedy of someone's demise, which is kept under wraps. Clybrun gathers her entire family at their rustic retreat and peels the layers of familial mourning in the show.

"[Clyburn] is really the anchor of her family and trying to be the moral compass when tragedy ensues. They're this New York socialite family traveling in all of the elite circles, and struggle is not something that they experience often," Pfeiffer said to the outlet, reflecting on her character.

Meanwhile, for Russell, per Town & Country, Pfeiffer had been one of the primary driving factors for him to take up the other leading role in the neo-western drama. The first three episodes of The Madison stream on Paramount+ on March 14, 2026, and the next three will arrive the following week on March 21, 2026.
