Meet the Cast of 'Scrubs': Who Are The New and Old Stars Returning After a 16-Year Hiatus

As the years go by and our viewing habits evolve, our favorite characters and shows continue to live rent-free in our minds, often revisited through reruns or episode clips. The reason? They make us feel nostalgic. And now, one such show is returning after a 16-year gap since it last aired, bringing nostalgia to screens: Scrubs. With its beloved hospital comedy, it is all set to premiere on February 25, 2026, on ABC.
The show’s renewal is more than just nostalgia: it is the whole experience of offbeat comedy and familiar characters returning to our screens. Though this time it also has some fresh faces joining the old group, meaning it includes modern experiences, too.

Revival works best when it incorporates familiar faces for viewers to feel at home. And, the Scrubs makers knew exactly what needed to be done.
Zach Braff as Dr. John J.D. Dorian: Zach reprises the role of the earnest and imaginative intern who eventually became the emotional core of the series. The character's quirky perspective and humor helped set the tone for the original series. And now the show's core lead is joining his old colleague.
Donald Faison as Dr. Christopher Turk: J.D.’s best friend and longtime confidant, whose bromance is crucial to the revival of the series. The character's comedy also added soul to the show.
Sarah Chalke as Dr. Elliot Reid: Reprises as the neurotic and brilliant physician she is. Joining the team with the same level of ambition and the same love interest for J.D.
In addition to the core trio, other original cast veterans also join the ensemble.
Judy Reyes as Nurse Carla Espinosa: Turk's wife, a strong-willed and compassionate nurse, brings a grounding presence amid the hospital's chaos.
John C. McGinley as Dr. Perry Cox: The witty yet soft-hearted mentor, whose sarcasm and tough love shaped many of the show’s emotional arcs.
Neil Flynn as The Janitor: Appearing in at least one episode, Neil’s character will add the nostalgic touch of his feud with J.D., a fan-favorite hallmark.
Christa Miller as Jordan Sullivan: Dr. Cox’s sharp-tongued ex, whose wit has been central to many of the series funniest moments.
Though the OG characters anchor the revival, reconnecting viewers to the character relationships and suggesting that neither time nor the characters have changed, the upcoming season also has guest appearances that include new faces.
New faces and guest stars joining the ensemble
Alongside its returning core cast, the show welcomes new characters whose presence signals change.
Rachel Bilson as Charlie: She is the beautiful visitor at Sacred Heart whose mysterious presence promises intrigue and heartwarming moments.
Andy Ridings as Wes: He is a pilot who delivers transplant organs, bringing comedic and dramatic elements to the series.
Lisa Gilroy as Lily: A harpist who plays in the hospital lobby, bringing unexpected calm and making the atmosphere at Sacred Heart lighter.
