Meet the Cast of 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms': Every Face Taking 'Game of Thrones’ Universe Ahead

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms introduces a cast that the Seven Kingdoms would fight for, which is not a promise made lightly. Game of Thrones justified such bravado through Sean Bean embodying Eddard Stark’s fatal honor, Lena Headey commanding every scene as Cersei Lannister, and Peter Dinklage turning Tyrion Lannister into a wit sharpened like Valyrian steel.

Honoring that tradition, the prequel advances Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell as its most watchful investments.

Peter Claffey embodies Ser Duncan the Tall, Dunk, a hedge knight of imposing stature and steadfast humility. At 6'5" Claffey carries Dunk’s physicality with undeniable presence. His past appearances in Bad Sisters, Wreck, and Small Things Like These signal an actor capable of both subtlety and spectacle.

Dexter Sol Ansell assumes the role of Egg, the clever squire and secret Prince Aegon Targaryen, destined for a crown. Already, at eleven years old, he impresses through prior work in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes and The Midwich Cuckoos, building a foundation for promise beyond years.

The pairing of Claffey and Ansell is a study in contrast and complement. Claffey lends weight and presence, while Ansell injects cunning, youthful vitality, and a magnetic charm that has the internet clamoring to uncover every detail about him. Together, they animate Westeros’ past with adventure, charm, and a seriousness that feels entirely earned.

The Targaryen princes

Finn Bennett is Prince Aerion Targaryen, cruel, angsty, and properly rebellious. His celebrated work as Officer Peter Prior in True Detective: Night Country foretold his rise, while Rage Against the Machine inspired the raw edge he brings to Aerion’s volatile temperament.

Bertie Carvel inhabits Prince Baelor Targaryen with elegance and subtle intimidation. The two-time Tony Award winner commands authority, having played Tony Blair in The Crown and leading roles in Dalgliesh and Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, imbuing the prince with meticulous precision.

Meanwhile, Sam Spruell plays Prince Maekar Targaryen, a figure built to dominate a scene. From Fargo to The Hurt Locker and Legend, his formidable presence gives the prince an unshakable weight, the sort of authority that Westeros demands of its rulers.

Lastly, Henry Ashton portrays Prince Daeron Targaryen, known as the drunken prince for his prophetic unpredictability. With performances in My Lady Jane and Outlander, Ashton conveys both insight and fragility, capturing the restless genius woven into the Targaryen line. While the Targaryen actors command Westeros with royal gravitas, the supporting cast wields enough wit and charm to hijack every scene.

The key supporting cast

The key supporting cast has already had a great start with Daniel Ings, who portrays Ser Lyonel Baratheon, The Laughing Storm, whose mirth hides a blade as sharp as his wit. From The Gentlemen to Lovesick and and a fellow The Crown co-star of Bertie Carvel, Ings blends charm and menace, making the heir to Storm's End impossible to ignore.

Tanzyn Crawford’s Tanselle, a Dornish puppeteer, stirs tension with the Targaryens while testing Dunk’s patience. Crawford’s Tiny Beautiful Things revealed an actor capable of quiet cunning. Danny Webb as Ser Arlan of Pennytree appears in reflective flashbacks, lending decades of gravitas from Alien 3, Pennyworth, and Doctor Who.

Edward Ashley and Shaun Thomas inhabit Ser Steffon and Raymun Fossoway, Youssef Kerkour is Steely Pate, and Chloe Lea is Rafe, Dunk’s loyal childhood friend. Together, this supporting ensemble charms, amuses, and occasionally steals scenes, reminding viewers that Westeros thrives on more than royal blood.
