The reveal also weakened Aldrich Killian's role as the film's true antagonist, making the story's central villain feel far less memorable. Although Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings later introduced the real leader of the Ten Rings through Wenwu, many still view the original fake Mandarin reveal as one of the MCU's biggest bait-and-switch moments.

Pietro Maximoff entered the MCU with enormous potential, but his journey lasted just a single film. Introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron, the speedster barely had time to establish his personality before sacrificing himself during the movie's climax. His abrupt exit cut short what could have been one of the MCU's most exciting long-term character arcs, leaving fans wondering what might have been.

Marvel Comics presents Hank Pym as one of the franchise's greatest scientific minds, an original Avenger whose inventions and complicated personal history helped shape countless stories. His brilliance, flaws, and controversial legacy have made him one of Marvel's most layered characters for decades. His influence on the Marvel Universe extends well beyond the Ant-Man mantle, making him one of the comics' most historically significant heroes.

The MCU instead introduced Hank as an aging mentor, shifting the Ant-Man spotlight to Scott Lang. While Michael Douglas brought charisma and authority to the role, many longtime comic readers argue that the adaptation overlooked Pym's larger importance within Marvel history. Rather than becoming a central architect of the Avengers, he remained largely confined to supporting duties throughout the trilogy.
