A fan at the premiere of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping found herself getting not only graced by her, but "mogging" McKenna Grace, according to the actress herself. In The Hunger Games, "looking the part" could be as important as playing it, and the franchise’s latest red carpet brought that spirit into the real world. With the stars of Sunrise on the Reaping assembled in London, McKenna Grace had every reason to feel spectacular, that was, until one fan made her reconsider who was stealing the show.

In an odd but pleasant turn of events, she might have found herself outdone by a fan who arrived ready for the Capitol.

McKenna Grace gets “mogged” at the premiere

The UK premiere of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping turned London’s Westfield shopping center into a gathering worthy of Panem’s most extravagant districts. The cast stepped out in looks that made the occasion feel very similar to a Capitol fashion parade. Grace, who plays Maysilee Donner, arrived in a custom-looking Almée Couture creation that translated the arena shown in the film into ready-to-wear red-carpet fashion. But even amid all that splendor, one sharply dressed fan managed to catch her eye.

“You look gorgeous! I’m getting mogged,” Grace exclaimed after embracing the fan, not settling for anything less than the internet slang for being outclassed in appearance.

The joke landed all the better because Grace was hardly underdressed herself. Her gown recreated the swirling sky, mountains, meadows, and flora of the film’s official poster, complete with embroidered landscapes and three-dimensional flowers making her look like an actual embodiment of the breathtaking but deadly arena.

The fashion may have stolen the moment, but the story behind the arena Grace chose to don is every bit as brutal as its beauty suggests.

A new chapter in The Hunger Games

Based on Suzanne Collins’ 2025 novel, Sunrise on the Reaping returns to Panem 24 years before Katniss Everdeen’s story, focusing on the 50th Hunger Games, or the Second Quarter Quell. This time, the initially over four-hour-long story directed by Francis Lawrence follows a young Haymitch Abernathy, long before he becomes the hardened mentor audiences know. The arena’s deceptively beautiful landscape, as always, is a reminder of the franchise’s cruelest trick, dressing brutality in spectacle.

Joseph Zada leads the prequel as young Haymitch, with Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird and McKenna Grace as Maysilee Donner. The ensemble also includes Elle Fanning, Ralph Fiennes, Jesse Plemons, Kieran Culkin, Glenn Close, Maya Hawke, and Kelvin Harrison Jr., bringing new faces and familiar franchise gravitas to the story.  returns to direct, with Billy Ray adapting Collins’ novel for the screen.

The film is scheduled to reach theatres on November 20, 2026, extending a franchise that has always understood how perfectly and viciously power and performance intertwine. For Grace, the London premiere offered a chance to embody that world through fashion, and then laugh when a fan outdid even her Capitol-ready effort.
