Judging from Marlon Wayans' excitement, Melissa Barrera may as well make it into Scary Movie 7. Although she is not part of the franchise yet, the comedian seemed genuinely enthusiastic about the prospect of her joining. It would be a fitting crossover considering Barrera's standout turn as Sam Carpenter, the modern Scream franchise's battle-hardened final girl. After confronting Ghostface while wrestling with the shocking revelation that she is Billy Loomis' daughter, Barrera has already proven she can balance horror, legacy, and dark twists with ease.
Considering how seamlessly Sam Carpenter's intense Scream world could be lampooned in a spoof, Wayans' apparent hint feels almost inevitable.

Melissa Barrera put the idea into the universe long before Marlon Wayans weighed in. In the aftermath of her highly publicized exit from Scream 7, the actress openly admitted that joining the revived Scary Movie franchise sounded like tremendous fun. Now, more than a year later, Wayans has revealed that he would have happily welcomed her into the spoof series, turning a fan-favorite 'what if' into a surprisingly plausible possibility.
Maybe for Part 7!" Wayans exclaimed during a recent interview with Variety while reacting to Barrera's earlier comments. The filmmaker said he wished he had known about her interest sooner because he would have tried to make it happen. He even described the idea as a "masterful cameo" before teasing that there is always room in a future installment, perhaps even Scary Movie 7.
The enthusiasm makes perfect sense. While the franchise has always branched out to lampoon countless horror hits, 11 confirmed in Scary Movie 6, Scream remains woven into its DNA. Putting Barrera, one of the defining faces of the latest Ghostface saga, inside that world would create the kind of self-aware horror-comedy crossover that practically writes its own punchlines.
If Melissa Barrera does make a cameo in Scary Movie 7, she would not be the first Scream alumni to do so.
How Scream keeps crashing Scary Movie
For a franchise built on mocking horror movies, Scary Movie has always had a habit of recruiting people straight from the scene of the crime. Over the years, Scream alumni have repeatedly wandered into the parody series, creating an amusing cycle in which actors first survive Ghostface, then return to poke fun at the very genre that made them famous.
Tori Spelling was one of the earliest examples. After portraying the fictional movie version of Sidney Prescott in Scream 2's Stab, she resurfaced in Scary Movie 2 as Alex Monday. Jenny McCarthy followed a similarly twisty path. She passed on an opening role in the first Scary Movie, only to appear in Scream 3 before eventually joining Scary Movie 3 anyway, proving that the parody franchise has a long memory.

Anthony Anderson may be the clearest bridge between the two worlds. Long before playing the accident-prone Officer Perkins in Scream 4, he became a fan favorite as Mahalik in Scary Movie 3 and Scary Movie 4, later returning for the franchise revival. Even behind the camera, the connection persists: Kevin Williamson originally titled his Scream screenplay Scary Movie, making the relationship between the two franchises less of a crossover and more of an endlessly entertaining family reunion. Making Melissa Barrera's possible appearance even more plausible.
