2023 turned out to be a rather sad year for fans of the NBC sitcom, Friends. While everyone’s worst nightmare was the show being removed from Netflix, something more unexpected and tragic ended up happening. It was the passing of the beloved comedian, Matthew Perry, who had played Chandler Bing in the television series. Although it all played out almost two months ago, the actor’s autopsy report finally revealed that he suffered acute effects of ketamine.

The worst part was the fact that just months before his untimely demise, Perry had opened up the recreational drug that was found in his system in his tell-all memoir.

After his years-long isolation after Friends, Matthew Perry resurfaced with a memoir titled, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing. While it has only been a year since it came out, it gained a lot of attention once news of the actor’s sudden passing broke. However, after his autopsy report was revealed to the public, it came to light that he had opened up about receiving ketamine infusions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the memoir, he explained why the drug was used. The actor said that it could “ease pain and help with depression.” He went on to give his readers a brief explanation of it. Perry even compared it to a “giant exhale.” However, that was not the case for him. He continued to say that he did not like the treatment as he would “disassociate” and feel as though he were “dying.”
