Matt Smith has reacted to learning that Keanu Reeves watched Morbius on a flight, responding to the discovery with the kind of candour that has made the film's reputation something of a running joke among its own cast. Actors distancing themselves from their own misfires is nothing new, but it always gets attention when the joke lands on a movie as widely mocked as Morbius.
Smith's latest reaction to Keanu Reeves watching Morbius reinforces just how thoroughly the movie was rejected, since Smith has clearly moved on from it in every sense.

During a recent interview on Brittany Broski's Royal Court, Matt Smith was stunned to hear that Keanu Reeves had watched Morbius on a plane, and he reacted exactly like someone trying to process a bizarre piece of celebrity trivia.
“F**k off,” he said in disbelief, before adding, “Not f–king ‘Morbius.’ Jesus Christ. My God. He must have really gone through the BA library to get to that … He’s on the valium or something.”
The response captured pure shock at the idea that Reeves would land on that particular film mid-flight. This candid moment occcured on Brittany Broski’s Royal Court and quickly struck a chord with fans who have long treated Morbius as more of a meme than a serious superhero entry.
Smith’s reaction only reinforced that perception, because he did not attempt to defend the movie or reframe its reception. Instead, he embraced the absurdity and played along with the long-running joke surrounding it. He did, however, make his admiration for Reeves clear.
“I love Keanu Reeves, I just want to make that really clear,” Smith added, turning the moment into a mix of disbelief, humor, and genuine respect.
While Morbius remains a punchline, Smith’s next role is taking him in a completely different direction.
A seductive turn in The Wolf
Riding high on House of the Dragon acclaim, Matt Smith is stepping into a very different kind of project next, trading fantasy spectacle for an intimate audio mystery in The Wolf. Produced by Quinn, the series casts him as a private investigator pulled into a glamorous case set against the backdrop of Lake Como. The story follows James Pierce as he searches for a missing billionaire, only to find himself dealing with the billionaire’s wife, Rosalind, who becomes the real focus of the investigation.

As the case deepens, so does the tension, with attraction complicating his judgment and putting everything at risk. Smith has described the project as “dangerous, sexy, seductive,” highlighting its mix of mystery and emotional intensity. Quinn has been building its reputation by pairing high-end audio storytelling with recognizable talent, and Smith’s involvement reflects that approach.
He has called the experience creatively freeing, pointing to both the tone of the material and the collaborative team behind it. The platform is also leaning into his fanbase with playful promotion that references his House of the Dragon persona. The first two episodes of The Wolf arrive Wednesday, July 1, with a preview already available for listeners.
