Marvel’s Plans for 'Moon Knight' Addressed as Writer Discusses Oscar Isaac Return

Marvel Studios may not have officially announced what comes next for Moon Knight, but fresh comments from the show’s creator suggest the door is still very much open for Oscar Isaac to return. Four years after the Disney+ series debuted to critical acclaim, fans continue to wonder when Marc Spector and his alternate identities will make their next appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Despite the long silence surrounding the character’s future, new remarks from creator Jeremy Slater indicate that Marvel’s plans may ultimately depend on one crucial factor: whether Isaac himself feels creatively excited about returning. And while no sequel, movie, or crossover has been confirmed yet, the actor’s attachment to the role could still shape the next phase of Moon Knight’s journey.

Even though Moon Knight ended with major unanswered questions, Marvel Studios has remained quiet about the character’s next chapter. However, Jeremy Slater recently shed some light on why the process has taken longer than many fans expected.

“The contract Oscar Isaac signed was very much like, we will do more stories when we find stories that he is creatively excited to tell,” Slater explained in an exclusive interview with ComicBook.

According to the writer, Oscar Isaac has remained deeply involved in discussions surrounding the future of the character, meaning Marvel cannot simply bring him back without a compelling direction in place. Slater suggested the studio is likely trying to determine what kind of story would genuinely entice Isaac to return to the role.

That uncertainty has naturally fueled speculation about where Moon Knight could appear next. The Disney+ series intentionally operated as a largely standalone story, with minimal references to the wider MCU. Still, the finale introduced Jake Lockley, the dangerous third alter still serving Khonshu, leaving plenty of unresolved material for a possible second season or future crossover appearance.

Oscar Isaac Never Truly Got What He Wanted From His Iconic ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Role

However, while speculation about Moon Knight’s MCU future continues to dominate fan discussions, Oscar Isaac is already preparing for another high-profile television role outside the Marvel universe.

Oscar Isaac is heading to Netflix next

Even as Marvel fans wait for updates on Moon Knight’s future, Oscar Isaac is already lining up another major television project. According to Deadline, the actor is set to headline a new drama series for Netflix centered around the high-stakes casino world of Las Vegas. Isaac will reportedly portray Robert Redman, better known as Bobby Red, the president of one of the city’s elite casinos.

The series will follow his attempts to expand his influence and navigate the dangerous power dynamics surrounding the casino business. J.C. Chandor, who previously worked with Isaac on Triple Frontier, is attached to direct the first two episodes. Meanwhile, Brian Koppelman and David Levien of Billions fame will serve as writers and showrunners.

The project also adds another collaboration between Isaac and legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese, who is executive producing the series. The two previously worked together on The Card Counter and are also attached to the upcoming historical drama, In the Hand of Dante.

While the untitled Netflix series does not yet have a release date, the announcement further proves Isaac remains one of Hollywood’s busiest stars, even as fans continue hoping for his eventual MCU comeback. With Marvel still keeping Moon Knight’s future under wraps, every new Isaac project is only adding to the anticipation surrounding his possible return.
