One of the most poignant moments in My Mom Jayne arrives when Mariska Hargitay reconnects with her siblings and explores photographs, home movies, and memories of a mother she barely knew. Jayne Mansfield died in a car crash in 1967 when Hargitay was three, leaving behind Hollywood fame and unanswered questions.

The documentary uses never-before-seen personal material as Hargitay examines Mansfield’s public and private life while searching for a deeper understanding of her family history.

Now that the film has won two Emmys, viewers may be wondering where they can watch it.

For viewers in the United States, My Mom Jayne is available through HBO Max. Warner Bros. Discovery announced the documentary as an HBO Original, with its HBO and HBO Max debut arriving on June 27, 2025. The official description says the film follows Hargitay as she seeks to understand her mother through intimate interviews, previously unseen photographs, and home movies.

The documentary premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2025 before receiving its North American premiere at the Tribeca Festival. The film is Hargitay’s deeply personal effort to reconnect with her siblings and uncover buried family memories surrounding Mansfield.

The film also became a major award success. At the 2026 Emmy Awards, Hargitay won Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special and Outstanding Directing for a Documentary/Nonfiction Program. The Television Academy lists both victories for the HBO Max production.

Another major documentary generating attention is Alex Gibney’s Musk. 

Musk is a  nearly four-hour examination of Elon Musk’s business career, personal life, and expanding influence. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival and received a four-minute standing ovation. The documentary also features an original song from Talking Heads frontman David Byrne.

Titled 'Let Me Sell You a Dream,' the track was created with composer Daniel Pemberton and uses Musk’s own public statements as its lyrics. The song is being entered for consideration in the Best Original Song category at the 2027 Academy Awards.

Musk will open in U.S. theaters through Bleecker Street on October 16, 2026, before its HBO Max streaming release. Musk has already criticized Gibney’s film, calling it a “hit piece.”
