Versatile and brilliant, Margot Robbie has never been one to play it safe. From The Wolf of Wall Street to the cultural phenomenon that was Barbie, she has shown time and again that she is willing to push the envelope. But she believes that this journey would not have been possible without her role model.

While the Australian actress has since become a role model for many, she candidly admitted how the Mean Girls actress once was her guiding light in her pursuit of some of her biggest roles.

Margot Robbie credited her former co-star Rachel McAdams for inspiring her to achieve the success in Hollywood she has today. She revealed that she used to watch McAdam’s awe-inspiring audition for the 2004 romance classic, The Notebook, before her own auditions. And she went on to praise her commitment and effortless charm.

“I used to watch it before I’d go to an audition, I was like, ‘OK, just try and be as good as her,” she said in an interview with BBC Radio 2.

When asked about whether McAdams’ audition helped her land any role, Robbie made a surprising claim.

“Technically, you could say any part I got would’ve been in thanks to her because I was always watching her audition before. It’s just the commitment. I always watched it to remind myself that you have to fully commit in the audition room,” she added.

After confessing her admiration for the actress, Robbie also spoke about her experience working with McAdams on About Time. While McAdams played Mary, Robbie had a small role as Charlotte. But she fondly remembered how kind and welcoming McAdams had been, not just to her but also to her brother.
