In a candid interview, Margot Robbie reveals about a joke that Greta Gerwig wanted to pull off in Barbie that did not pull off.

Margot Robbie Reveals How She and Greta Gerwig Almost Added a Joke About Her Doppelganger Emma Mackey in ‘Barbie’

Barbie, the highly-anticipated summer film, has ignited a frenzy among fans with
its captivating trailer. What makes this movie even more alluring for devoted
Mattel enthusiasts is the abundance of Ken and Barbie characters. This new Greta
Gerwig venture is all set to enchant audiences by providing a humane tangent to
the beloved character. This is the first time a live-action adaptation of Barbie
is hitting the silver screen.

In addition to the main Barbie role, the enchanting Emma Mackey has graced the
screen as one of the beloved Barbies. What unfolds is a joke surrounding her
similarity with Margot Robbie that did not pull off in the movie.

THE EXECUTION OF THE BARBIE JOKE THAT ULTIMATELY FELL SHORT

As the ensemble cast of Barbie emerged, lifting the veil, it stirred fans into a
whirlwind of excitement. With its release date set for July 21st, followers
eagerly await every morsel of information that comes their way. And within this
exhilarating tapestry, Gerwig insisted on incorporating a joke into the movie.
It highlighted the uncanny resemblances between Robbie and Mackey. During the
puppy interview, Robbie playfully quips, “I’ve been getting told for years that
I look like the girl from Sex Education”

In a delightful revelation, she goes on to disclose their grand plan for a joke
centered on their striking similarities. Robbie fondly reminisces about a
particular moment when they both decided to embrace their inner Barbies and
dress up accordingly. However, much to their amusement, they quickly realized
that they had overestimated the extent of their resemblance.

While Robbie flaunts her luscious blonde locks, the star of Sex
Education radiates with her captivating brown hair. The execution of the joke
ultimately fell short.

During the interview, the curtain was lifted further, unveiling intriguing
details about the Gerwig organized Barbie sleepover.

THE BARBIE SLEEPOVER THAT DID NOT HAVE KEN IN IT

In a whimsical twist, the Barbie sleepover held by Greta Gerwig initially
excluded Ryan Gosling’s portrayal of Ken. The organizers had initially intended
the event exclusively for the Barbie ensemble. However, fate intervened, and
Ken’s irresistible charm managed to sway them, ultimately granting him
permission to stop by. Interestingly, early reviews have bestowed upon Barbie
the honor of being contended for an Oscar nomination.

To the delight of everyone present at the sleepover, Ryan Gosling shared his
lighthearted response. He expressed his lack of interest in spending the night.
With an air of playfulness, he declared that he had other pressing matters to
attend to. However, as a charming gesture, he sent a melodious singing telegram
instead.
