Wuthering Heights, starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, has officially dropped on streaming sites on March 31, 2026. It will be available via premium video-on-demand on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV. The movie can be purchased for $24.99.

It can also be pre-ordered on DVD, Blu-ray, or 4K on Amazon. And each physical copy includes a digital code to watch the film on any device. The movie is priced at $19.96 for DVD, $24.95 for 4K, and $24.95 for Blu-ray, with the release date set for May 5, 2026.

Considering the film’s impressive $236 million box office earnings, its streaming fate looks just as promising. After all, the film’s creative liberties sparked intense debate on social media. From casting Margot Robbie as a teenage Cathy to costumes that did not quite belong to the era, the film kept audiences talking long after its release.

Ahead of the release of the movie, Emerald Fennell, who wrote and directed the film, also addressed the reason behind these bold creative choices.

Emerald Fennell opened up about her new version of Wuthering Heights

Every adaptation of the classic novel Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë has been placed under a microscope. And Emerald Fennell’s 2026 version is no exception, even though she has been clear that it is a loose interpretation. Perhaps that is why she stressed that Wuthering Heights is not an easy book to adapt.

"The thing for me is you can't adapt a book as dense and complicated and difficult as this book— I can't say I'm making Wuthering Heights. It's not possible. What I can say is I'm making a version of it,” she said in a Fandango interview.

She went on to explain that this version is deeply inspired by her first experience of the novel at 14. She allowed her imagination of what she thought might have happened and wished for to shape the story for the movie. Fennell’s film is not the first controversial take on Wuthering Heights, but it is certainly one of the most talked-about adaptations of 2026.
