Emily Osment requested an intimacy coordinator on Young Sheldon because of her age gap with Montana Jordan. The request came from a place of care, on a sitcom famous for church potlucks and Meemaw’s brisket. Nobody expects boundary conversations in a Texas kitchen full of wholesome family chaos. Yet behind the scenes, a quiet call was made, and it says plenty about how sets should work.

While viewers cheered for Georgie and Mandy’s romance, Osment was busy spotting a problem the cameras could not show, and it all started with a 12-year age gap.

Emily Osment requested an intimacy coordinator on Young Sheldon because her onscreen love interest, Montana Jordan, was 18 while she was 30. The age gap left Osment feeling uncomfortable, even though the two never shared s** scenes. She even raised the concern with Tim Marx.

"That made me uncomfortable. He was a baby! A baby with a mullet,” Osment recalls, discussing the age gap in Young Sheldon: The (Juicier-Than-Meemaw’s-Brisket) Inside Story of the Hit Comedy.

She then said she spoke to Tim Marx, and while the production could not arrange a coordinator that late in the day, “for the next few episodes they had one there.”

Revealed in Jessica Radloff’s new book, the pair, playing Mandy McAllister and George Cooper, were about to film scenes where their characters grew closer, and Osment still wanted protection in place. She also doubted that Jordan knew he could ask for a coordinator himself, so she wanted him to have the option. Director Alex Reid admitted production initially overlooked hiring one, since the show’s romance stayed light. He added that the car kissing scene felt awkward mainly because the two had barely met.

As Osment and Jordan sorted out comfort on set, the Cooper family bank accounts were quietly doing some growing of their own.

How much the Young Sheldon cast made

Iain Armitage, who played Sheldon, had an estimated net worth of around $6 million. His pay started at $30,000 per episode in season 1 and jumped to $50,000 per episode for seasons 4 and 5. Not bad for someone who launched a theater review YouTube channel at age 4 and landed an agent off 16 thousand subscribers. Those earnings kept climbing as the show grew into a hit.

Annie Potts, who played Meemaw, topped the main cast at roughly $8 million to $11 million, with real estate holdings often cited as part of the pile. Zoe Perry, who played Mary Cooper, was estimated between $600,000 and $1.2 million depending on the source, while Lance Barber, the football coach dad, sat near $1 million. Montana Jordan landed around $2 million to $3 million, with higher figures appearing after the spinoff, mullet included. Emily Osment’s intimacy coordinator request, meanwhile, made the set a more comfortable place.
