Niu Lai may not have the most perfect animation, but that has not stopped it from becoming a box office hit. The low-budget film not only features poor animation but also has a bizarre plot that does not appear to connect well, earning it a reputation as a bad movie. However, the internet has once again surprised everyone, as clips from the film went viral, drawing massive audiences to theaters across China.

Despite its questionable animation and plot, the film is now competing with The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day at the box office. With its poor animation garnering laughter across the country and even beyond, many are wondering whether there are more bizarre gems like it. Here are three movies that might be just as bad, and just as entertaining, as Niu Lai.

Birdemic: Shock and Terror is a 2008 American romantic thriller-horror film. Much like Niu Lai, it is also a low-budget movie, made on a budget of just $10,000. James Nguyen wrote, directed, and produced the film, while Alan Bagh and Whitney Moore starred in it. It followed a couple who were attacked by a bird.

The film was heavily criticized for its visual effects, sound design, and plot. However, its bizarre execution might also make it a cult favorite, and it is likely just as hilariously bad as Niu Lai. So, this is likely a movie that can be enjoyed with a good laugh.

The Room

The Room is a romantic drama that is reportedly semi-autobiographical. It was written, directed, and produced by Tommy Wiseau, who also starred in the film alongside Juliette Danielle and Greg Sestero. While critics have labeled it one of the worst films ever made, it eventually became a cult classic.

However, in 2018, the film was re-released after undergoing several cuts.
