Ryan Reynolds has a rather surprising secret buried deep in his acting portfolio. While the actor usually celebrates and promotes his work, there was once a time when that was not the case. Back when the now world-famous star was just starting his child acting career, he took up some rather questionable roles. Although he eventually landed his dream job as Marvel’s Deadpool, the world has not forgotten that he began his journey on Nickelodeon.

It might have been Reynolds’ only collaboration with the television channel. However, it left quite an impact on the actor and his fans who remember the show.

In 1991, Ryan Reynolds was just 15 years old when he starred in a Nickelodeon TV series called Fifteen. In the show, the then-budding actor played a character named Billy Simpson. While he was not the show’s main character, the teenager made his way into a lot of scenes. The role ultimately ended up being his first big break. However, back in 2017, the Deadpool star admitted on the Live Kelly and Michael Show that he “hated” the role and acting at that point in his life.

In the video, Reynolds also went on to reveal that he had “quit acting” after the show as he “hated it.” During his time away from acting, the now 47-year-old revealed that he had various other jobs. However, he thankfully managed to find his way back to the world of cinema. While the world had lost The Adam Project star for some time, he ended up coming back stronger than ever before.

In 1993, 2 years after Ryan Reynolds’ debut in Nickelodeon’s Fifteen, the child star made a comeback to acting. While most people would have expected him to pick up another television series, the 17-year-old had other plans. Instead, he ended up debuting in a feature film called Ordinary Magic while also taking on another series titled The Odyssey. It was a recurring role and left teenage girls all over the world in a panic.

Although Reynolds’ break from Hollywood only lasted two years, imagine if he had found another passion. Not only would the world never have gotten the perfect Deadpool, but fans also would have missed out on the actor’s epic humor and sarcasm.
