Lisa Kudrow has no plans to take a break from her career anytime soon. The actress found massive success after playing Phoebe Buffay on the iconic sitcom Friends, earning several awards along with love and appreciation from audiences around the world. Apart from the hit sitcom, Kudrow has also starred in several acclaimed films and shows, including Neighbors and Booksmart.

She most recently returned to reprise her role as Valerie Cherish in the last and final season of the sitcom The Comeback. Now, after wrapping up the show, the actress opened up about what her The Comeback character would think of her.

Lisa Kudrow joked about her character Valerie Cherish

Lisa Kudrow recently spoke to Deadline at Sublime Primetime, hosted by the Writers Guild Foundation. During the conversation, she discussed her character Valerie Cherish from the HBO series The Comeback. She also joked about how Cherish would not be impressed by the woman who played Phoebe Buffay on Friends, pointing out the contrast between Kudrow’s successful career in the entertainment industry and Cherish’s struggles to maintain her own.

The Comeback, starring Valerie Cherish, first premiered in 2005, but the character never found the same level of success as the actress who portrayed her, Lisa Kudrow. Hence, Kudrow's belief about the character's dislike of her most iconic role, as she revealed to Deadline. While Valerie Cherish may not cherish the actress' decision to play Phoebe, Friends earned three Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Kudrow and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for Michael Patrick King. Despite the recognition, the series was canceled after its first season before returning for a second season in 2014.

While The Comeback may not have touched the sky, Kudrow recently revisited an age-old debate about her sitcom, which did.

Lisa Kudrow clarified her claim on Rachel and Ross debate

During the 2021 Friends reunion special, Lisa Kudrow and the rest of the cast discussed the famous Ross and Rachel debate and agreed that the pair were on a break, which confirmed that they agreed that Ross did not technically cheat. Years later, Kudrow took her words back while discussing the debate on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

“She shouldn't have gotten back with him cuz he was horrible,” Kudrow said.

When Fallon asked whether she had shared her latest opinion with David Schwimmer, who played Ross, Kudrow said she had not spoken to him about it yet. However, Schwimmer may already be aware of her change of heart by now. It might be safe to say that the actress has always shared her mind much like her character Pheobe so her comment on Cherish may not appear surprising.
