Lisa Kudrow Gets Cheers for Her Bold Take on Ross and Rachel’s Break Debate

Lisa Kudrow’s recent comment has revived the long-running debate over Ross and Rachel’s breakup once again. She now claimed that the two were not on a break during the famously debated Season 3 of Friends. Interestingly, earlier during the 2021 Friends reunion special, the cast, including Kudrow, had agreed that the two were on a break and that Ross did not cheat.

But years after that reunion episode, Kudrow appears to have walked back her earlier stance, and it seems a massive portion of the fandom agrees with her.

On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Lisa Kudrow was asked about her recent take on whether Ross and Rachel were really on a break, and she did not hesitate to double down. Her simple “no” was met with loud cheers from the audience. While Kudrow is clearly far from alone in that opinion, she seemed satisfied with the reaction and even expressed slight shock.

“She shouldn't have gotten back with him cuz he was horrible,” Kudrow declared.

When Fallon asked Kudrow whether she had mentioned it to David Schwimmer, who played Ross in the series, her response made it clear she had not done so yet. However, Schwimmer may already know, as the actress had previously shared the same comment in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. But, the debate still continues with a 2019 Plenty of Fish survey for Friends’ 25th anniversary that found 60% sided with Ross, though more women than men believed he cheated.

And perhaps, Kudrow also got a better look at Ross and Rachel’s breakup scene after rewatching the series following the tragic passing of Matthew Perry.

Lisa Kudrow watched Friends after Matthew Perry’s passing

Lisa Kudrow mentioned that she had never watched her own show Friends, which still boosts her net worth. She joked that she would be mortified if someone caught her watching it at home. However, she decided to watch the entire series again after her former Friends co-star Matthew Perry passed away.

“But after Matthew passed away, there were marathons, and I wanted to watch,” she said on Capital FM.

Matthew Perry’s passing was shocking for the entire cast, who were not only close on screen but also shared a strong bond off camera. And to cope with the loss, she decided to rewatch the show. She enjoyed all the characters and episodes, and the Friends marathons may have also given her a clearer perspective on Ross and Rachel’s relationship.
