There is a familiar feeling that hits right after the credits roll on a John Wick movie. You sit there, adrenaline still high, replaying the clean choreography, the controlled rage, the quiet grief that fuels every move. Fans did not just watch John Wick fight his way through loss; they felt it with him.

And somewhere between the fallen pencil jokes and the candlelit Continental corridors, many wondered what it would be like to step into his shoes. That fantasy, long shared among fans, is finally edging closer to reality.

And Lionsgate’s next move suggests it would not just be John Wick fans getting their turn.

Lionsgate is planning big with John Wick

Lionsgate has confirmed it is actively planning a major push into the gaming space, with John Wick positioned as one of its flagship properties. The studio revealed it intends to develop AAA video games based on John Wick and notably, Saw as well signaling a serious commitment to high-budget, large-scale interactive experiences rather than smaller licensed titles.

“We’re seeing increased interest and increased opportunity, and we remain on schedule,” chairman of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Adam Fogelson stated during Lionsgate’s Q2 2026 earnings call.

This move also reflects a broader industry shift. Streaming platforms and studios have been leaning harder into games over the past few years, and the results speak for themselves. Hogwarts Legacy is a great example of big-budget games rooted in popular film universes becoming commercial. Both Marvel and Warner Bros. have spent years expanding franchises through games.

And this may only be the beginning of what is in store for Lionsgate’s wider film library.

What Lionsgate’s earnings call reveals about its gaming future

As reported by Dexerto, during its latest earnings call, Lionsgate confirmed it is exploring AAA games based on its most recognizable franchises. Apart from choosing John Wick and Saw as early priorities, it will expand the list. Lionsgate’s direct acknowledgment of multiple AAA projects signals a structured rollout rather than a general idea.

Whether fans will see familiar faces return, as Keanu Reeves once did in Cyberpunk 2077, or experience these worlds through entirely new interpretations remains to be seen. What is clear is that Lionsgate is preparing to make gaming a core extension of its cinematic universe.

For fans who have long imagined stepping into John Wick’s world  or surviving the twisted traps of Saw, Lionsgate’s gaming ambitions mark a significant turning point.
