Lionsgate joins forces with Sony for Naruto adaptation

Following an intense, multi-studio bidding war, Sony Pictures has officially stepped in to co-finance and globally distribute Lionsgate's upcoming live-action adaptation of Masashi Kishimoto's legendary manga franchise, Naruto. With the studio partnership locked in, Lionsgate has given the official green light to the blockbuster project, per The Hollywood Reporter.

The latest venture marks the next cinematic step for filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton right on the heels of his massive $2.5 billion box office triumph with Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
