Ethan Hawke feels comfortable with the level of fame he has achieved in this era. The 55-year-old actor is undeniably one of the legendary actors of his generation, having starred in Dead Poets Society, Boyhood, Before Sunrise, The Purge, and many more movies.

He has also continued to work in notable films, including his recent appearance in Blue Moon, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor. While the actor claimed that there are many people who may not be aware of his career, he revealed why he is satisfied with it.

Ethan Hawke is content with his career and fame

Ethan Hawke recently sat down with Zach Baron for GQ’s One More Question interview to talk about his career and fame. When asked whether the new generation, who may not be aware of him as an icon or familiar with his career, the actor surprisingly agreed. However, he went on to explain that he is content with the level of fame he has now and genuinely enjoys it.

“I have a certain level of fame that is very pleasing to me If I'm allowed to say that, which is that I'm getting to work with really talented people, and I really can go to the grocery store. And there's a certain level of fame above me, where life gets really uncomfortable,” he said.

Hawke explained during the interview that some people may have seen only a few of his films and assume that he has not worked since. But the actor further added that he is satisfied with having worked across several different genres, including thrillers, horror, and romance, with films such as Training Day, Sinister, and Before Sunrise. Hawke even recalled an incident when a fan saw him at the airport and was surprised to learn that he was still working.
