“Let Her Be MCU Wolverine”- Fans Pick Their Hugh Jackman Replacement, As MCU’s Wolverine Rumors Float

As Marvel gears up for its next Avengers chapter, speculation is growing that Logan could finally slash his way into the mainline MCU. But not alone; he will do so alongside familiar mutant faces.

With Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammer, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden all confirmed to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, fans believe Wolverine joining the roster feels less like a long shot.

Whether Logan cameos in the upcoming multiverse saga or not, it is clear that fans are already looking for his replacement.

That is where Laura Kinney enters the conversation. Introduced in Logan and portrayed by Dafne Keen, Laura is not just a fan-favorite survivor in Marvel Comics, she officially takes up the Wolverine mantle after Logan’s death. With Keen also returning in Deadpool & Wolverine, fans see a clear narrative opening for the MCU to pass the claws forward.

Whether that theory becomes reality or not, one thing is clear, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is back in Marvel’s orbit. Adding fuel to the fire, industry scooper MyTimeToShineHello has reported that a solo Wolverine movie starring Jackman is in development at Marvel Studios.

While the studio has not confirmed the project, the rumor lands at a moment when Jackman has already returned for Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), years after Logan was meant to be his definitive farewell back in 2017.

And as Marvel keeps its cards close to the chest, fans are no longer just speculating; they are approving audition tapes.

Fans call for X-23 to take over as Wolverine in the MCU

Across the first wave of tweets, fans made their stance clear. Logan’s story feels complete. Many argued that Logan already delivered a powerful, emotional send-off. In contrast, X-23 is seen as a fresh but respectful evolution, further fueling the outcry for Laura Kinney to replace Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.

While much of the fandom is rallying behind Kinney as the next Wolverine, some suggest a middle ground. They want to let Logan live on through occasional multiverse cameos rather than another full arc. At the same time, a more pessimistic corner of the debate questions whether Marvel would ever fully commit to a female-led Wolverine. Together, those views underline how hope, nostalgia, and skepticism are all colliding in this moment.
