The Los Feliz branch of Los Angeles' Public Library sits steadfast on the site where Leonardo DiCaprio spent his childhood, skateboarding with friends and enriching his mind with books. In a fitting circle of life, the veteran actor and his family had made a donation of $35000 to create a computer laboratory when the branch first opened its doors in 1999.

The computer center, which bears his name, now provides desktop computers to assist children in developing their reading, language, and mathematical abilities. The library received his ongoing support for multiple decades because his foundation continues to assist the library in fulfilling its current requirements through technology advancements and permanent newspaper supplies for its users.

At a stone's throw from Griffith Park, the library, per SF Gate, hosts multiple signed posters of DiCaprio's films, which might look like a fan-made quirky decoration for the cozy neighborhood. However, that is certainly not the case because, according to the branch's senior librarian, Pearl Yonezawa, the actor made sure to visit the very library during his childhood frequently and has been donating to it for over 20 years.

Not just his name, but the actor has been making significant contributions to the library over the years.

Every impactful contribution Leonardo DiCaprio has made to the LA library

From donating several technical pieces of equipment to pulling in readers, Leonardo DiCaprio has shared his laurels with his former home. The computer center where DiCaprio once rested has his fans from Germany frequently visiting to marvel at the posters of Titanic, Gangs Of New York, Catch Me If You Can, and The Great Gatsby, signed by the actor himself, which initially escaped Pearl Yonezawa's cognition, rather hilariously.

"I was so busy getting the building up and getting it working. They’re secured a little better to the wall, once we realized that some of them were signed. Sorry, Leo!" Yonezawa told SFGate.

Even when they required copies of the New York Times during the late-2000s recession and could not afford it, DiCaprio purchased them subcriptions, as he had been regularly checking in on the requirements of the library over the years.

“We sent word on up that that was an issue we were having, and so we asked [DiCaprio] for a year subscription so that we could see if it was worth the library subscribing to it. And he bought us a five-year subscription," Yonezawa added.

The friendly initiative has turned into a vital bond between the worldwide celebrity and his former home, which raised him, as it now transformed into the library, while the tech room is where his bedroom once stood. Even minor contributions can make a permanent impact on a community when it comes to the Oscar-winning actor.
