There are awkward confrontations, and then there is Ian Ridley staring down Don at the Sober Society in Episode 3 of Last Seen. After Dean identified Don’s truck engine in the phone recording and Ian found a suspicious bag in his house, Ian confronted the man he trusted, ending the episode with one deliciously ominous promise: the lies were coming down.

Episode 4 gleefully raises the stakes, with Donald betraying expectations and Sarah digging for answers from somewhere surprisingly close to home. 

Donald did not tell Ian the truth. Instead, he called Henry and warned him that Ian knew something. Henry insisted there was no proof and said he had to protect his family. When Donald asked about Sarah’s real family, Henry insisted that he and Jenna were her parents, then pulled Donald deeper into the secret.

Henry’s manipulation worked because Donald still cared about him. He reminded his brother that they needed him and invited him home. Unfortunately for Henry, Ian had watched the exchange. He followed Henry’s pickup, only for Henry to lead him toward a dangerous construction area and escape after Ian crashed. The chase had only made Ian more determined.

At the police station, Ian explained his discoveries. Henry had worked around the station and cleaned windows there, yet almost nobody knew him. His registered address was a business park, his vehicle carried the same address, and he had a burner phone. Ian also learned that Henry was Donald’s brother.

Damian confirmed that Donald’s van was the vehicle Sarah had entered, giving police another reason to question him. Donald’s record was mostly clean apart from a DUI, but his silence became striking. When officers asked whether Henry had kidnapped Mags and k***** the girl found in the dirt, Donald refused to answer. 

Henry returned home shaken and furious, but Sarah was already asking questions he could not easily bury. She wanted to know what had happened to the vehicle and Tommy, while Henry insisted that dangerous policemen were coming for them. Then he delivered the threat that mattered most: if Ian succeeded, Henry and Jenna could go to jail, and Sarah could lose them forever.

That fear worked, but only temporarily. Henry dropped to his knees and pleaded with Sarah, turning her confusion into another weapon. Meanwhile, Jenna sat in her car surrounded by Mags’ letters and photographs, looking increasingly unable to live with what they had done. The family secret was no longer sitting quietly in the background. It was beginning to crack.

At the station, Henry unexpectedly arrived while Donald was being questioned. He claimed Ian had tried to hurt him, then confidently offered to lead the police to his home. That confidence might have looked reassuring to anyone else. To Ian, who had already connected far too many dots, it was practically an invitation.

The police arrived at Henry’s farmhouse with Ian following from the car. Isabel noticed the security camera and kept Ian under watch. Henry introduced Sarah as his daughter and produced a birth certificate. Sarah seemed completely comfortable, even offering the officers tea, while Henry performed normal family life with almost unsettling ease.

Then Henry left the room, and Isabel quietly questioned Sarah about the party and phone call. Sarah denied attending any party. But the real shock came when Ian finally saw her. Recognition hit instantly. He knew Sarah was Mags.

Unfortunately, Isabel had the birth certificate, and suspicion alone was not enough to tear a child away from the family claiming her. Henry soon told Sarah they were leaving. Jenna still would not answer his calls, so he sent Sarah to check the animals. Ian, meanwhile, went to Debbie and explained why he believed Sarah was Mags.

He asked her husband Bill to verify the birth certificate, hoping the document would finally crack Henry’s story. It did not. The certificate was legitimate, and Debbie became furious with Ian, telling him she was done. As Ian left the flower shop defeated, Jenna watched from nearby.

Sarah, meanwhile, wrote a goodbye letter to Tommy and waited at the treehouse. She gave him the treehouse, promised she would return, and left him with a goodbye that felt painfully permanent.

Henry called Donald and said they were leaving. Donald realized Henry was probably taking Sarah to their father, whom he described as a fanatic. Donald finally admitted that he could not keep helping his brother, but Henry simply ended the call. His next stop was Debbie’s flower shop, where Jenna nervously approached Sarah’s birth mother.

Jenna, however, did not intend to buy flowers. She asked Debbie whether her unborn child was her first, then admitted that she had once lost a daughter. She revealed that Henry had tried to help when it happened to her, and Debbie immediately recognized his name. Jenna fled before she could explain everything, but the encounter left another piece of the puzzle sitting in plain sight.

Ian later met Debbie at the hospital and came to know that Jenna wanted to confess but could not bring herself to do it. He persuaded Bill to help him reach her, then went to Donald’s boat and practically begged his old friend to admit whether Henry had kidnapped Mags. Donald only said that he could not help.

That answer pushed Ian to a frightening place. Sitting at home with Mags’ toy, he took out his g** and slipped it into his pocket. Meanwhile, Jenna went to Donald’s house crying, finally ready to tell him what had really happened. Donald urged her to stay with him, but Jenna insisted she had to face the truth for Sarah’s sake.

When Jenna returned home, Sarah immediately ran to her. Jenna sent her inside so she could speak privately with Henry, but Sarah quietly hid nearby and listened. Jenna told Henry that Sarah had never chosen them and that what they had done was unfair to her. Henry tried his usual manipulation, but this time it failed. 

Ian and Bill soon reached the farmhouse. Bill warned Ian not to do anything reckless, but there was little chance of stopping what had already been set in motion. Henry was loading the pickup when Jenna came outside. Ian spoke gently to her about Debbie, making it clear that he knew she was carrying a secret of her own. Then Sarah appeared.

Ian pulled out Mags’ old toy and asked whether she remembered it. He pulled the lever, and its lullaby filled the air. For one tiny second, recognition flickered across Sarah’s face. Ian told her he had been looking for her for years, and suddenly the impossible reunion was standing right in front of him.

Henry immediately stepped in, ordering Ian to stay away from “their daughter.” Jenna finally broke through the lie and said Sarah was not their daughter. That single sentence destroyed the last fragile wall protecting their secret. Henry pulled out a g** and opened fire.

The confrontation descended into chaos. Jenna and Bill were both hit, with Bill appearing to take a shot to the head. Sarah was left staring at the wreckage of the life she had always known, while Ian finally stood face-to-face with the daughter he had spent years searching for. The truth had finally arrived. It just happened to bring an actual g** to the fight, making the events of Episode 3 look meager.
