Coming from a famed video game company, FromSoftware Inc., it was inevitable for Elden Ring to take the open-world RPG domain by storm. The level of success the game achieved was unprecedented, and in less than two weeks since its release, 12 million copies of Elden Ring were sold. Now, A24 has endeavored to translate the brilliance of this game into a movie.

To make this adaptation a massive success, Ex Machina (2014) and Civil War (2024) director Alex Garland has taken the reins of the project. Kit Connor has already been roped in for a major role in the project.

Along with the Heartstopper star, other members of the star cast have also been revealed, and the full list seems nothing short of a spectacle.

The year 2028 will see the release of Alex Garland's Elden Ring, which is being filmed for IMAX. A24 and Bandai Namco Entertainment's live-action adaptation of the popular fantasy RPG video game is currently in production. This adaptation has been said to be Garland's passion project, which he proposed to A24 while pursuing the film's production rights. As a devoted player of the game, Garland brings a fan-first perspective to the director's chair. This suggests a movie that will not just skim the surface of the Lands Between, but will instead treat the game's dense, cryptic lore with the reverence and surgical precision Garland is known for.

The movie's plot is still kept under wraps. But gamers and those privy to the source material know that the story follows the player character in the video game, who goes by the name Tarnished, an exile from the dark fantasy world of the Lands Between who is brought back to life following the Shattering, an event that has plunged the region into darkness. To become the Elden Lord, Tarnished must vanquish the seven Demigods who possess fragments of the Elden Ring.

Elden Ring has already positioned itself for success upon its release thanks to the scintillating roster of cast, an intended IMAX experience, and a March 3, 2028, release date. In a market that is already hot for video game adaptations, Elden Ring is poised for a massive release with everything going for it.
