Kim Kardashian Set to Produce Broadway’s Drama ‘The Fear of 13’ Starring Adrien Brody and Tessa Thompson

Kim Kardashian has been working towards criminal justice reform for quite some time now and has used her position to further advance the cause by promoting sentencing reform, sponsoring inmate re-entry programs, and fighting for clemency. In an effort to lower recidivism, she has worked with groups like Cut 50, visited the White House, and collaborated with Lyft to offer transportation for formerly incarcerated people. Her latest effort, though, is more like an attempt to spread awareness. She will be achieving this through a Broadway show.

The wrongful conviction drama, The Fear of 13, on Broadway now has Kim Kardashian on the producing team, Deadline reports. The media personality and businesswoman claims that the show, which stars Adrien Brody and Tessa Thompson in lead roles, is part of her ongoing campaign to raise awareness of criminal justice reform on a global scale.
"Criminal justice reform has been a deeply personal mission of mine. I've seen firsthand how the system can fail, and I've committed myself to fighting for those who have been silenced," Kardashian said in a statement, as per Deadline.
She further added that sometimes telling a compelling narrative is the best approach to influence people's opinions. According to her, The Fear of 13 is that story. It is a candid, unvarnished examination of Nick Yarris's unjust conviction and the structural flaws that held him in prison for twenty years. She is extremely thrilled to be producing a Broadway play on such an important topic.
After a run on the West End, the drama written by Lindsey Ferrentino and directed by David Cromer makes its Broadway debut. Ephraim Sykes, Michael Cavinder, Eddie Cooper, Victor Cruz, Eboni Flowers, Joel Marsh Garland, Jared Wayne Gladly, Joe Joseph, Jeb Kreager, and Ben Thompson are among the other cast members of the Broadway play.
With such a pivotal issue taking center stage in the play, a bit of curiosity lingers to know just a smidge more about the story of the play.
How does the story of the Broadway show The Fear of 13 unfold?
The play is based on the true story of Nick Yarris (played by Adrien Brody), who was incarcerated for more than 20 years for a murder he did not commit. Yarris leads a life shaped by the consequences of his single impulsive action, and through a series of prison visits with a volunteer named Jacki (played by Tessa Thompson), the audience witnesses his agony.
