Iain Armitage addressed the claims about his behavior on the set of Young Sheldon. Created by Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro, the show was a massive hit that ran from 2017 to 2024. The sitcom followed the life of a young prodigy struggling to fit in with the people around him and his hilarious trials and tribulations.
However, it appears that the situation was not much different on the set of Young Sheldon, where a nine-year-old was juggling school, work, and fame at the same time. Years later, the cast members have now opened up about their relationships, friendships, and work experiences in Jessica Radloff’s new book. Armitage also responded to the claim of being difficult while expressing his gratitude.
Iain Armitage addressed rumors of difficult behaviour
In her book Young Sheldon: The (Juicier-Than-Meemaw’s-Brisket) Inside Story of the Hit Comedy, Jessica Radloff explained that the cast members of Young Sheldon had a great relationship and loved each other. However, their relationships were complicated at times, and they did not always agree with one another. The same goes for Iain Armitage, who was rumored to have difficult behavior on set. He addressed these claims in the book.
“I always did the best that I could, and sometimes kids are not perfect. I was grateful to the people who understood that and gave me grace.”

Along with his response, the actor also called it a "privilege" to work on the show. This comes after Annie Potts, who played his grandmother, Meemaw, on the show, described the young actor’s behavior as sometimes difficult in the book. She said that they were all working for him and that the characters were also meant to "serve" his character’s journey, which she explains could be a lot for a child to handle psychologically. After all, the show was a great success that ran for 7 seasons.
“Yes, sometimes he was difficult,” she said.
“It’s a very challenging situation to be 9 years old and be expected to work, behave, and think like a grown-up. And I say that with absolute love and respect,” she added.
While Armitage faced much pressure, the presence of his co-star Raegan Revord, who was around the same age as him when they worked together, may have helped him cope.

In the same book by Jessica Radloff, Raegan Revord shared that having a young co-star like Iain Armitage, who was going through the same experience, helped her. She opened up about how they both grew up in the public eye and experienced fame at a very young age. However, Revord added that they also argued like siblings and sometimes had different opinions.
“So it was nice to have someone who understood that process. But like siblings, you bicker and stuff happens,” she said.

This time, Armitage also agreed with his on-screen sister, Revord, who played the role of Missy on the show. The actor added that while they sometimes had arguments, having Revord by his side was “fun.” While the cast opened up about the difficulties the young actors faced early in their lives, they also spoke about their complicated but meaningful bonds.
