Marvel is pushing very hard for Phase 6 of the MCU to be a huge success after the debacle that was Phase 5, and Kevin Feige’s recent claims about Avengers: Doomsday's ending and how it will amplify the anticipation for Secret Wars are a testament to that. Ever since Avengers: Endgame, things have only gone downhill for the studio, with the only exception being Spider-Man: No Way Home, Deadpool & Wolverine, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which were a box office as well as a critical success for the production house.

Now, they have turned to their most celebrated and profitable franchise to reclaim their former glory that is still lost somewhere since the pandemic.

Avengers: Doomsday comes with mammoth expectations, and Kevin Feige has further added to this mountain of pressure with a promise of an unexpected Doomsday finale and a hard wait for Secret Wars.

During a conversation with TheMovieReport.com at the San Diego Comic Con 2026, Kevin Feige talked about the storyline of Avengers: Doomsday and how the cast from different universes came together for the film. He ended the conversation by teasing the Doomsday finale.

“I don't want to spoil anything, but I think fans will be incredibly satisfied and yet incredibly surprised by where it's headed. And then we'll all have a hard time waiting a year for the next one,” Feige said.

Fans have been eagerly anticipating the debut of Avengers: Doomsday, the year's most anticipated film, ever since Marvel Studios released the first teaser. Feige, president of Marvel Studios, added to the enthusiasm by calling the upcoming movie "one of the most ambitious films the studio has ever made" in the same interview with TheMovieReport.com. 

Additionally, he disclosed that Avengers: Doomsday will unprecedentedly bring together characters and realms from throughout Marvel's film history. He meant the characters from the Fox-led X-Men series coming together with some new mutants introduced in the new MCU and the Fantastic 4, coming from a totally different reality of the MCU.

The two movies will tie everything together that the entire Phase 6 of the MCU has been building up to so far.

The epic two-part Multiverse Saga climax from Marvel Studios begins with Avengers: Doomsday, laying the groundwork for Avengers: Secret Wars, which will ultimately draw the curtains on Phase 6. Heroes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, Wakandans, the New Avengers, and most importantly, some members of the old Avengers, come together in the movie to fight a shared foe: Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom.

Among many other actors, the movie features Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Kelsey Grammer, and Allan C******. Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Wyatt Russell, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Tom Hiddleston, and many others are part of the elaborate cast revealed back in 2025. The movie is due in theaters on December 18, 2026.
