Kevin Bacon's 1990 cult horror-comedy Tremors has rocketed to the top of Paramount+ streaming charts in the United States. The film follows Bacon's handyman, Val McKee, defending a desert town from giant underground creatures called Graboids, and it originally underwhelmed at the box office. Over three decades later, it has found a second life, and the timing could not be more deliberate or delicious.
While Graboids once lurked beneath Perfection, Nevada, a very different kind of underground movement is now shaking up Hollywood.

As of July 3, Tremors is sitting at number one on Paramount+ in the United States, outranking Scream 7, Top Gun: Maverick, and several other titles on the platform. Directed by Ron Underwood and written by S.S. Wilson and Brent Maddock, the film earned an 88% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes upon release. The revival energy around the film is not coincidental. In 2025, franchise rights reverted to Ron Underwood, S.S. Wilson, and Brent Maddock, who are now actively developing a new sequel set in the original town of Perfection.
The original 1990 film featured a cast that included Fred Ward, Finn Carter, Michael Gross, and Reba McEntire in her acting debut, alongside Bobby Jacoby and Ariana Richards. Though the film grossed only $16 million on a modest budget, video rentals transformed it into a beloved cult classic. That grassroots momentum later generated six direct-to-video sequels between 1996 and 2020, a 2003 television series, and a fanbase that never really stopped showing up.
As the franchise prepares for a return, the original film is drawing in new viewers, raising one obvious question about where to actually watch it.
Where to watch Tremors as it tops the streaming charts
Tremors is not currently available on Netflix in the United States. The film was removed from the American Netflix library around January 2021 and has not returned, though select international regions such as Turkey and Italy have seen occasional availability. Paramount+ remains the primary destination for the film right now, and digital rental or purchase options are also available on platforms such as Amazon and Apple TV.

For those outside the United States or on different streaming plans, JustWatch is the most reliable tool to check regional availability in real time. The original film's current chart performance suggests that appetite for Graboid chaos is very much alive. With a new sequel in development and Tremors back at number one, the franchise that refused to stay buried is making its presence known all over again.
