Kenneth Branagh Has More Thor Stories to Tell
Thor director Kenneth Branagh may have left the franchise long ago after his first film, but he still has intriguing stories and ideas for the God of Thunder. The director recently expressed his interest in making more Thor movies, and considering the 2011 film’s $449.3 million success, he would have been a welcome addition to the franchise.
Looking back on the character of Thor, Branagh also opened up about his approach to a new Thor film and reflected on the more recent movies.

In an interview with Business Insider, Thor director Kenneth Branagh explained that while he was open to making another film in the franchise, he needed a break after the first. So, despite being asked to return, he chose to step back and added that Marvel Studios' post-production is always intense and exciting, but he needed to slow down at that moment. However, his mind now seems filled with new ideas, and one of them involves Logan.
“Part of me would love to finish my relationship with that character. I’d always wanted to do more and indeed had a couple of ideas, more in the territory of James Mangold’s brilliant ‘Logan,’” he said.
“I would love to see Chris Hemsworth and the others have their own individual final story that takes ‘Thor’ into a glorious twilight,” he further added.
Speaking about the more recent films, he said he watched them with immense pride and expressed his awe at how many different directions the story could take. However, nothing has been confirmed about whether he will return for a fifth Thor movie. After Branagh, Alan Taylor directed Thor: The Dark World, while Taika Waititi helmed Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder.
And while Waititi has confirmed that he will no longer be part of a Thor film, a fifth movie is still in conversation.

He added that the studio's plans are quite fascinating, although he did not reveal any specific details.
“Whatever we do next—we’ve got some ideas to do something pretty unique again and hopefully be [different],” he said.
