Hollywood’s enigma Keanu Reeves is quite the humble and sweet guy in real life, but the minute the cameras start rolling, he is the most lethal man who has the capability to unalive a person with just a pencil. John Wick movies have definitely given the actor an on-screen reputation that has lately become Reeves’ brand. While the franchise started as a simple revenge action-thriller, he is once again set to venture into a similar world.

Keanu Reeves’ next is a CIA thriller Kill Current, presented by his production company Two Dragonflies.

Keanu Reeves is getting ready to bring a new flavor to his action hero persona. The John Wick actor will star in Kill Current, an adaptation of Oliver Lowe's upcoming book Kill Current: A Jon Hendricks Thriller, according to Deadline. Through their recently formed production banner, Two Dragonflies, Reeves and Alexandra Grant will produce the project, which will also be funded and produced by The Arena. 

Reeves and Grant established Two Dragonflies to create stories for film, television, animation, comic books, games, literature, and other artistic mediums. The movie is the first project to come out of the company. The executive producer will be Molly Stern and her publishing firm, Zando. The novel's rights have been prematurely acquired by The Arena, an independent studio founded by former Lionsgate film executive Erik Feig, which will also produce the film.

The first book of an upcoming thriller series, Kill Current, centers on Jon Hendricks, a burned-out CIA agent who is drawn back in to exact revenge on the protégé he nurtured and lost. The first book written by Lowe will be published by Zando in May 2027. It is a global, suspenseful action thriller about shifting alliances and the competition for the world's most valuable assets, per Deadline.

Keanu Reeves who recently ranked first in new Celebrity Aura rankings, might just get his third big franchise with Kill Current alongside The Matrix and John Wick.

After The Matrix and John Wick, Kill Current might be Keanu Reeves' third major action franchise, that is of course if it does well at the box office. The actor's career is said to have been revived by the latter film series, with the 2014 original putting him back in the public eye. In the 2025 spinoff Ballerina, Reeves made his final appearance as John Wick. Although a fifth John Wick movie has been hinted at, it is uncertain if it will be made, especially since Chapter 4 appeared to conclude with the death of the title character.

Lionsgate is putting a lot of effort into growing the series and developing the world of John Wick through upcoming films like Caine. Caine is directed by Donnie Yen, who also plays the title blind assassin, who first appeared in Chapter 4. In addition to the John Wick franchise, Reeves' next projects include the science fiction feature Shiver, directed by Tim Miller, and the upcoming film The Entertainment System Is Down, which is directed by Ruben Östlund, the director of Triangle of Sadness.
