Kathie Lee Gifford’s latest remarks have put her long-running Live! history back in the spotlight, especially her years alongside Regis Philbin and the handoff to Kelly Ripa. Gifford built the show’s personality with Philbin for 15 years before Ripa joined in 2001, and her recent comments made it clear she has no interest in reliving that era through Ripa’s lens.

The big takeaway is that Gifford’s words sounded less like nostalgia and more like a pointed dismissal of her successor’s version of events.

In a new People profile, Kathie Lee Gifford said she wasn’t interested, explaining that she had moved on to other creative work, including movies and theater.

“I wrote about four different musicals,” she added, framing her distance from the show as a deliberate career shift rather than avoidance. Even so, the tone suggested she had little interest in revisiting the chapter that continued without her.

Her feelings about Regis Philbin were much warmer. In the same People profile, Kathie Lee Gifford explained that she shared a special bond with Philbin.

“Oh, I loved him,” and added, “He was so much fun. We never had a cross word in 15 years. I miss him every day.” That praise stood in sharp contrast to the cooler tone surrounding Ripa, especially since Gifford has previously been openly hesitant about comments made in Ripa’s memoir and other interviews.

What makes the situation more interesting is that Gifford didn’t come across as bitter so much as detached. She seemed to suggest that her version of Live! belonged to a very specific partnership with Philbin, one she did not feel the need to compare with what came after. So while she stopped short of a direct attack on Ripa, the message was still unmistakable: for Gifford, that era ended with Regis.

While Gifford looks back selectively, Ripa is firmly focused on the present with her family.

Kelly Ripa is busy with the family

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos recently celebrated daughter Lola Consuelos’s 25th birthday with a heartfelt tribute that leaned into family memories and music. The couple shared a montage of home videos on Instagram, tracing Lola’s life from infancy to adulthood and giving the moment a deeply personal feel.

The video opened with baby Lola in Ripa’s arms at the hospital and moved through candid family scenes with her brothers Michael Consuelos and Joaquin Consuelos. It also captured playful moments, including clips of Lola dancing and experimenting with style, alongside glimpses of her musical interests. The montage was set to her song 'End of the World', tying her childhood memories to her creative path.

That kind of family celebration also invites curiosity about the couple’s broader success, especially since Kelly Ripa’s long TV career and high-profile hosting role have made people wonder how her salary and net worth compare to other daytime stars. Beyond the spotlight of daytime television, the tribute underscored what appears to matter most to them. Family milestones and shared memories continue to take center stage, offering a contrast to the ongoing attention around Ripa’s professional life.
