“Just Wait”: ‘The Boys’ Star Antony Starr Says Homelander’s Worst Is Yet to Come
Antony Starr has often spoken about the long and brutal journey of Homelander from The Boys, a character defined by escalating cruelty and psychological instability. In recent promotional conversations, he reflected on how earlier moments in the series only scratched the surface of the character’s capacity for destruction. As the story moves through its later chapters, attention has shifted toward how far both heroes and villains are willing to go when limits disappear.
As The Boys grows darker, viewers are closely following Homelander’s journey and the evolution of his character traits, as each season pushes him further into unpredictable and unsettling territory.

Antony Starr hinted that Homelander’s darkest actions are still ahead, teasing an escalation beyond anything seen before in The Boys. During his recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, he warned that the character’s cruelty is far from over and will only intensify as the story continues to unfold further.
“You think k****** children is bad? Just wait.” Starr said.
He then added, “That was the beginning and that was a great introduction to what the character's gonna be like...then there was the pesky old dating a Nazi which...,” He paused before clarifying that he was speaking strictly in character as Homelander, not referring to himself as Starr, clearly separating the actor from the fictional role.
Starr’s reference points back to the opening sequence of The Boys season 1, episode 1 titled The Name of the Game. The scene unfolds within the first minutes of the series, showing Homelander flying beside a private jet carrying a young boy and his father. The moment quickly turns as he waves before slicing the aircraft apart, revealing the character’s true nature to viewers for the first time instantly.
While Homelander’s early brutality sets the tone, the next chapter shifts toward Butcher’s increasingly ruthless transformation ahead.
The Boys season 5 Billy Butcher update
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Karl Urban has teased that Billy Butcher reaches his most lethal form in The Boys season 5, driven entirely by his mission to eliminate superpowered threats. He explained that Butcher no longer sees limits when it comes to achieving his goal, even at the cost of his humanity. The storyline positions him as a relentless force reacting to Homelander’s growing power and perceived existential danger within the season arc.

Urban’s comments also highlight how season 5 pushes Billy Butcher into morally unrestrained territory, as his belief system collapses under the pressure of escalating superhuman conflict. His determination now overrides caution, placing him in direct confrontation paths that test his remaining humanity at every turn. As the final season progresses, this transformation positions Butcher as both a counterforce and a potential threat to everyone around him, including allies and enemies alike, all while Homelander’s brutality escalates further into uncontrollable extremes.
