Josh Duhamel Advocates Staying Away from Politics for Actors
Best known as an actor for his role as Danny McCoy in NBC’s Las Vegas, and now riding fresh momentum with upcoming projects like Ransom Canyon season 2, Josh Duhamel continues to evolve in Hollywood, balancing acting with directing while maintaining a steady presence on screen. However, beyond his work, the actor has recently drawn attention for his take on politics in the entertainment industry, offering a perspective that questions how and when actors choose to use their platform.

While speaking on Wednesday’s episode of SiriusXM The Megyn Kelly Show with host Megyn Kelly, Josh Duhamel shared his strong views on actors and politics in Hollywood. He questioned why anyone would risk pushing away half their audience by openly promoting personal beliefs, especially when respect for differing opinions matters just as much as having a voice. Expanding on this, the actor emphasised that just because someone has a platform does not mean they should use it to preach, making it clear that he prefers to focus on creating content rather than influencing what audiences should think or believe.
“I just feel like, you know, because you have a platform, doesn’t mean that you get to preach to everybody,” the actor said.
Talking further, Duhamel also reflected on how success in Hollywood often brings an “entourage” that surrounds actors with overly “absurd” praise about how amazing they are, something he views as a genuinely “damaging force.” He added that this kind of fawning environment can distort reality for actors, making it harder to stay grounded amid the noise of constant validation.
As Duhamel continues for advocating that actors stay away from politics, his return in Ransom Canyon Season 2 is also stirring buzz, alongside several upcoming projects lined up for 2026.

Following the recent wrap of filming in January 2026 at Netflix’s New Mexico studios, Ransom Canyon Season 2 is now edging closer to its return, building anticipation after months of buzz since production picked up in late 2025. The new chapter is expected to arrive by late 2026 or potentially 2027. While the story continues to expand its Texas ranch drama roots, the upcoming season also brings in fresh faces, with new additions including Steve Howey as Levi, Patricia Clarkson as Claire O’Grady, Ben Robson as Oliver, and Heidi Engerman as Sydney, adding new tensions and dynamics to the unfolding narrative.

Returning as Staten Kirkland, Duhamel leads the series alongside Minka Kelly, Lizzy Greene, Garrett Wareing, and others. Recently, he was also seen in Preschool, which he both directed and starred in, released on March 17, 2026. Yet to be done with 2026, Josh Duhamel has already begun drawing attention with his 2027 slate, with his upcoming Paramount modern Western The Rescue set for a January 29 theatrical release.
Meanwhile, even before these projects take centre stage, his stance on actors staying away from politics has already placed him firmly in the spotlight, adding another layer to the conversation surrounding his evolving presence in Hollywood.
