Jeremy Allen White, who first shot to the spotlight with his role as Lip Gallagher in Shameless, and then went on to absolutely kill it as the intense chef, Carmy Berzatto, in The Bear. He will now take on an entirely different challenge of voicing a beloved character of the Star Wars franchise - Rotta the Hutt. There is no doubt about the capabilities of Allen White as an actor who can emulate a wide spectrum of emotions almost naturally. But to move audiences with just your voice is a daunting task.

Director Jon Favreau has full faith in Jeremy Allen White, and in a recent interview, he points out why the actor fits perfectly for the role in The Mandalorian & Grogu movie.

During the recent Fandango’s Big Ticket interview with Jon Favreau and the rest of the cast of The Mandalorian & Grogu, the director went on to explain why he thinks Jeremy Allen White is best suited to voice Rotta the Hutt, the son of Jabba the Hutt. His explanation connects the actor's role in The Bear to the reason why he emerges as the best fit for the role.

“I really love his work, but his humanity, specifically, through his work. That’s the part that hooks me in. And really pulls you into a story, and that’s such an important part,” he said.

In the interview, Favreau lavished the actor with praise and suggested that what he did in The Bear with Carmy Berzatto’s character is the main reason why he is the right person to voice Rotta the Hutt. Since Rotta’s character is digital in the movie, there was an obvious risk involved of the character coming across as a puppet with a voice.

This is where Allen White’s expertise as an actor comes in handy. He brings out all the complexities in Rotta’s character just through his voice and beautifully conveys the weight on the character’s shoulders. He brought with him his own perspective to the character, which helped even the director to be sympathetic to the character.

Star Wars’ ‘The Mandalorian’ Might Be Onto the Same Path as Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’, Which Render Pedro Pascal Unable to Save It Just Like Henry Cavill

While Jeremy Allen White’s voice will light up the scenes with intense emotions, Rotta the Hutt may be doing a lot more than just having a heart-to-heart about his feelings.

Rotta the Hutt set for some action sequences in The Mandalorian & Grogu

The first look of Rotta the Hutt from The Mandalorian & Grogu has already been released, along with that of Pedro Pascal, and he looks jacked in the images. In the 2008 film Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the Sphere of Influence episode of the same-titled television series, Rotta was shown as a baby. About thirty years later, in The Mandalorian & Grogu, the Hutt appears to be able to hold his own in combat.

The fact that Jabba and the Twins from The Book of Boba Fett were shown moving slowly, while being a naturally huge species, indicates that Hutts are not typically recognized for staying in shape. Rotta has broken out as one of the few exceptions to this rule. The extreme conditions pushed him to become a ripped monster who can head an enemy in one fell swoop of his axe. His new muscular appearance, with Jeremy Allen White’s voice backing him in the movie, makes him one of the most looked-forward-to characters.
