Readers and movie enthusiasts rarely come to terms when it comes to book adaptations. One such example is the Harry Potter films starring Daniel Radcliffe, which are loved by both groups and yet are often debated for skipping crucial details from the books. As a second adaptation of Harry Potter by HBO takes shape, there is growing speculation over whether it will focus on those details.

Two quotes that have been declared as the very heart of the series by J. K. Rowling are one of the elements that is gaining traction for being skipped in the movies.

Back in 2007, J. K. Rowling pointed to two Bible quotes that were crucial to the Harry Potter series. These were engraved onto the gravestones of Harry’s parents and Dumbledore’s family. “The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death” (1 Corinthians 15:26) appears on Harry’s parents’ grave, while “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21) is inscribed on the Dumbledore family grave.

"They're very British books, so on a very practical note, Harry was going to find biblical quotations on tombstones [But] I think those two particular quotations he finds on the tombstones at Godric's Hollow, they sum up — they almost epitomize the whole series,” Rowling had said in a widely cited MTV from 2007.

Despite being such crucial elements, these details were surprisingly left out of the films. Now, readers are hoping the Harry Potter HBO series will finally show these details, along with long-missed characters and elements like Peeves, Charlie Weasley, and the Marauders. With the series set to dedicate each season to a single book, expectations are understandably high.

Lox Pratt, who will play Draco Malfoy, has also teased fresh, never-before-seen details to be shown in the series. In a conversation with 1883 Magazine, he hinted that the show will focus on characters’ personal stories. And that also includes his character, Draco, by showing his home life.
